GDT: 2021 World Juniors

Also there's about 15 minutes until the nightcap game featuring our first (and until the elimination round only) Shark vs Shark game as a returning Adam Raska and the Czechs will face off against Spiridonov, Knyazev, and the Russians.

Raska is a bundle of energy out there.

If nothing else he could make a fantastic uptempo buzzsaw PKing 3rd/4th liner. I'm not sold on the offence but I don't care as much if he can be this relentless at everything else and be like a Czech Mike Grier.

Dumb question.

"Hey Adam, you're here representing your country on the biggest stage so let's talk about the fact that you played with Alexis Lafreniere last season because CANADA!!!"

Light day of action on tap tomorrow. There's no morning game so first up is what should be a total walk as Sweden faces Austria at 3pm. Then the nightcap is a battle of lesser lights in what should still be an entertaining tilt as Slovakia takes on Germany in a game with implications for the last elimination round slot in Pool A. Personally it's also a game I have some fun vested interest in.

For an elite uber-hyped goalie, Askarov has a troubling tendency to look shaky at bad times and gets beat on some iffy shots.
Askarov is so overrated, I honestly think he busts. On the other hand Raska is underrated. He could end up the exact bottom 6 player this team has been lacking. So much heart, energy and physicality. For a 7th rounder I am very high in him

Credit to Austria for not getting ventilated like I thought they would.

Yes, the shots are 61-6 right now, but I would've expected that to accompany a score of like 9-0, not 4-0.

It's the Nem Bloodline Bowl tonight. Which of my ancestral homelands will lay claim to being less bad at being in the top tier of international hockey tonight? Because this is what I have. Not a history with Russia or the Czechs or Sweden or any of the really good countries. Nope. Germany and Slovakia.

You could see that one coming. This makes things interesting as Germany holds the 4th spot in the pool and still has to play the winless Swiss while Slovakia will close out the round robin against Finland on Wednesday.

also I totally remember German head coach Tobias Abstreiter playing for the German senior men's team in the past.

tomorrow should be fun in one way or another. The morning game pits the US against Adam Raska and the Czechs. The afternoon game will probably be Canada throttling the Swiss, and then it caps off with Knyazev, Spiridonov, and Russia probably looking to beat the stuffing out of Austria.
