To lose both Merryweather and Romano within the week after Yates went down before the season... cursed. Hopefully the pipeline keeps producing arms..

I don't know, man, pitchers are just so fragile these days. It's almost like all this babying of them in recent times has made them more susceptible to injuries. Just my opinion, anyway.

I think it's likely more to do with the increase in velocity and added strain. Back in the day you could count the fireballers like Nolan Ryan on one hand. Now everyone can Throw mid to high 90s. Arms aren't suppose to do that so they are basically just ticking Time bombs.

I'm glad our core is mostly built around position players. A lot more predictability from year to year.

Palacios, I encourage anyone here to give me one good reason why Palacios is still batting 8th and Semien is still batting leadoff.

The real answer is probably expectation/sample size.

but the fun answer is:

We have no chance with this amount of injuries and to key players. Just no chance at all. Going to be a miserable season

If we were going to commit to having terrible defence, could we have atleast kept Guerrero at third and signed Nelson Cruz?

Maybe it's just me being biased towards Kay, but despite the number of runners that have been on I feel like he's been fine. The double in the 1st was very weak contact, the triple was a sliced ball that found the perfect spot. He's K'd a few guys on some really quality pitches, pun intended. Please don't put Roark in there yet, this game is still within reach.

but you need to get Roark in there early so he has time to get going.

Came here to post the exact same thing. Kay has looked very good but has been undone by soft contact and poor defence.

Roark, conversely, is about to get smashed.

So basically we've conseeded the game

Maybe the threat of Roark on the mound is enough to scare the offence into action so they'll score 10 runs (since any fewer wouldn't be enough to guarantee overcoming Roark's awfulness. Though even 10 probably isn't enough for sure) and that's how they'll win?

Or maybe a meteor hits the KC dugout and they have to forfeit the game. That's probably as likely.
