Has there been a worse manager in terms of game-related proficiency (and not personal stuff like Tim Johnson) in the last 25 years than Charlie Montoyo? Serious question.

How about the last 50 years?

I mean, guys like Showalter and Yost were MILES ahead of Montoyo. If you took the retired Showalter of present and had him in charge of the team from the start of this season, we'd probably be in a playoff spot right now. JFC.

Montoyo is a WOAT-level manager with absolutely zero instinctual feel for the game.

I am not exaggerating one single bit with that statement.

He deserves the firing he's going to get at the end of the year. I've never seen a manager make so many idiotic decisions so often.

After the first 3 strikeouts of the game you start to wonder if he should be hitting in an important situation.

Why not pinch hit with McGuire in that situation? Palacios is in way over his head.

Never mind McGuire. Grichuk was on the bench. I know he's a K-machine, but a) he can't possibly be a greater K risk than Palacios with his hat trick tonight and b) at least you're putting in a guy who can conceivably knock one to or over the wall and get some runs back.

If Shatkins don't fire Montoya the day after the season ends then I am shifting blame to 100% on them. I think they've done a good job in assembling a team of players but they really shit the bed with their manager pick, time to own up to that.

I do think that having a Spanish speaking Manager should be strongly encouraged.

Yeah I keep wondering if that's a main reason to keep Montoyo around, with all the young Spanish-speaking guys
Still, it'd be handy if he was also good at managing baseball.
