Absolutely embarrassing effort. I've thought that the playoffs talk was a pipe dream which could only be decided by good goaltending and a Vancouver collapse, and this game is just proof of that. There was no reason to come out that flat, and Cronin's comments about the team being overconfident and playing down to them is just insane. They're 6 points out of a wild card spot and this is the best they've done in years, and they think that gives them f***ing reason to take a night off like that? Just a failure of coaching and vet leadership.

Leo is at least looking better, once he adds some strength and puts it all together he's going to be elite. I can't believe I'm saying this after the last 2 seasons, but I think Strome is one of the few guys on the team i have had no complaints about all season. He's playing great hockey.

Totally agree about Strome. He’s had a fantastic season and his contract looks solid at this point in time. The fact that their were many saying they wanted to see Lundestrom at 3C over him coming into the season is wild in hindsight

It’s a game they needed to win. Would be 4 points from a playoff spot with a game in hand.

We joke about Stroke er um Strome but he really has been solid for Anaheim. Can’t really complain at all.

Actually, it is. This one is on the players. They didn't come in prepared; they were flat-footed, egregiously careless and not concentrating enough to make simple executions. This is one where you look in the mirror and tell yourself "If we want to be a playoff team, we can't take anything for granted." It;s one of those things you CAN learn a great deal from, IF you choose to learn the lesson.

Well, considering they just pulled this crap on Tuesday, it's clear they didn't pull their heads out of their collective asses with that reality check. Completely inexcusable performance that I'm still pissed about, especially so at home.

The Calgary game was a game I feel like we *needed* to win. Glad we pulled through against the Nucks, but these last 2 losses dwindle our chances. The 3 most important game for the rest of the season are against the Nucks, Blues, and Flames. If we dont win those it'll be very tight.

I remain hopeful. We have 1 game in hand over both CGY and VAN; 3 GIH over STL and 2 over UTA. Convert those to wins and we're only 4 pts out of last WC slot. Not insurmountable.

I honestly do hate to be that guy, but the last three weeks of the season make what’s currently going on sorta irrelevant.

I'm genuinely curious what you mean. Are you implying that the April schedule is too tough? One game against a terrible team, three against teams the Ducks would theoretically be directly competing against for a playoff spot, and the last two games of the season against teams that likely already have playoff spot and seeding locked up and will be resting guys.

There are definitely tough games in there (and perhaps Minnesota and Winnipeg will be playing for something), but I don't think that's an unmanageable schedule. But perhaps I misunderstood your implication.

I can easily see a world in which they lose every single game. San Jose occasionally surprises and would love to ruin our playoffs, Calgary has owned us for quite some time, Edmonton will potentially be fighting for home ice, Colorado will be trying to get out of the wildcard, the Kings will want home ice, and I don’t see Winnipeg resting enough players to make that competitive (I also don’t think they want to enter the playoffs losing to us). Who knows which Vancouver team (and goalie) we get.

The Ducks are also a terrible team. They just have very good goaltenders.

I’m not saying they WILL lose all those games. I am saying I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they finished the month somewhere between 2-5-2 and 2-7.

A terrible team with good goaltenders has been .500 so far. Also, they've beaten Winnipeg twice (and actually played pretty well in both games, arguably deserving those wins).

I don't think the team will be in the playoff race come April (they're not really in it now in a real sense - 6 points is a lot). But I don't think the April schedule is significantly more daunting than the schedule they've already faced. If they can manage to hang around until then, you never know. They could finish 2-7 or 7-2, although 2-7 is a bit more likely.

Gonna be back in town for those string of O6 games , including that Rangers game on 28th.

With how they looked , I am not sure how much longer this will last. They should have beat Buffalo and Chicago, almost beat Buffalo till they basically fell apart in that 3rd.

I’m kinda hoping they can stay around or above .500 , so I can see them in person playing meaningful hockey but I agree that it will come back down soon. Just hope not until April.

I’m sure you feel the same way as a season ticket holder. Would be nice going into that week a couple games above .500, and with a couple of games out of a WC spot but they should have won this game and the one in Buffalo. I don’t see them winning tomorrow and well the record has been more fun and we are actually watching the scoreboard for playoff position and not lottery and it feels F’ing great. But I feel it’s going to come down hard soon. I hope I’m wrong.
