Read an article on TSN about Robertson not getting on the team, because he thinks Leaf’s camp will start before the Gold medal game. Why wouldn’t the Leafs give the kid a chance to play in the WJC’s? It’s only a couple days.
You changed up the point. First you said maybe he didn't make the team, and now your saying it's because of scheduling?
As the other user mentioned, this looks to be a player and team decision. Leafs don't want him to miss camp and Robertson wants to make the NHL.

Did Robertson even try out for the US team? Was he even at the camp? How can he “make the team” if he’s not even there?

@Luckylarry
Because he was 100% a lock if the Leafs sent him. So yes he made the team automatically but wasn't sent there. Do you know some players are locks before the camp even starts? Guys like Caufield, Zegras among others were locks.
Are you saying he wasn't a lock?

It is what it is. Tough blow to lose good forwards, but it was bound to happen. I'm going to laugh if/when the very hopeful NHL start date gets delayed and the Leafs burned an elite development opportunity for one of their top prospects.

Also, can we stop with the Covid conspiracies? USAH was running segmented rooming, eating, no social hangouts, etc. to avoid a positive test spreading. Doesn't mean it won't, but you all sound like the same broken clocks from over a week ago when you were declaring Caufield must be about to disqualified due to a positive case with the Badgers.

What a mess. The IIHF should be ashamed of how they handle this situation. These protocols and testing rules are so amateurish...

Eklunds test was not a false positive. He was tested 2 weeks ago so there's nothing crazy about him playing now. Apparently they are going by the date the test result comes in, not the date the player was tested. Eklunds result came in 1 day too late, that's why he couldn't go.

.

Uh, why?

This is just the type of tough decisions you have to make in these crappy times, nothing to laugh at a team for...

And to be fair, Robertson has already played in the nhl playoffs, I think he’s beyond developing at the junior level, and he himself knows it.

It'd be one thing if the NHL start date was confirmed. And yes, I'll laugh if they took away a guaranteed development opportunity for no hockey at all if NHL camps get delayed.

Robertson is a great prospect but he's not beyond the junior level being useful.

Covid Facts and Fun without naming names:
A certain player on USA had covid earlier in year so his teams recent outbreak didn't impact him coming to camp and participating.
Canadians 5 cuts re: unfit to play were frauduent to save face and say hey guys we are impacted also. A d-man who made team was first one to test positive, the there 5 were being cut anyway and were sacrificial lambs for Hockey Canada to go on with tournament without perceived advantage. Not saying they didn't test positive or have close contact but that was main reason for Canada extended camp. If get it, quarantine out of it and be eligible.
USA player who tested positive today only tested positive on their last test, so if it isn't a false positive you will see multiply US players test positive in next 6 days and become ineligible.
(Hope it was a false negative for their sake but sad for two players that had to go home)

Reschedule tournament so everyone can have everyone available.

Hockey Canada has spent too much money to reschedule. It's now or wait until next year.

Certainly no more beyond the junior level than Dach. Leaf prospects are just beyond anything so.. there is that

Yeah the fact he didn't respond to my post is him admitting how informed and biased he is. All though it looks like he was trolling. How do you not know Robertson made last year's time? Robertson made the team this season but wasn't sent and everybody knows that.

Dach doesn't have to try to win a spot in training camp, so there is that. If Robertson and the Leafs are prioritizing him playing in the NHL this year and feel that him participating in training camp instead of going to the WJC will make that more likely, there's nothing wrong with that. Nobody is saying Robertson is too far above everyone else in the tournament

Difference between Dach and Robertson is that Dach has a roster spot locked in for the NHL so it doesn't matter if he missed camp. Robertson does not so I would assume both he, and the organization want to give him the best chance at achieving that.

Is it really that difficult to see if the differences in the situations?

I realize that captain. Your buddy said Robertson was beyond junior level.

Thanks for the laugh.

Imagine how bad your team has to be to be this devastated by losing a Beecher-level player.
