Players testing positive is one thing, they gotta play for their club until you gather, meaning a risk to catch covid. You can tell them to be cautious, but it's the price you have to pay.

No real excuse for coaches though. They could've quarantined a long time ago.

Physical meeting(s) between the coaches by the looks of it. Incredibly stupid if that's the case.

Goalie coach Nizze Landen tested negative on sunday, both for the quick test and the PCR test.
So he was clean all the way up until the camp.

Albin Grewe said yesterday in an interview that he has tested negative 10 times during the past month. 10 times.
Before testing positive at the camp.

Don't want to awake the conspiracy theorists but imagine if they are using faulty PCR tests? Montén also tested negative using the quick test. False negatives would probably be the more common problem with these tests though.

Im surprised they've been tested as many times as ten times a month.
Sweden reached testing maximum the other week. Hopefully athletes being tested does not take resources away from testing others.

Not entirely sure how it works but I don't think it does. From what I've heard, private testing uses the same lab capacity (which isn't the biggest issue right now) but materials, personel and logistics are all handled and paid for separately.

Anders Eriksén has already been confirmed as the replacement. Still not 100% if he's good to go. Joel Rönnmark might also be an option.

Interview with Oskar Olausson, who is at the pre-camp (in swedish)

"Det var nära att jag satsade på fotbollen framför hockeyn" - Hockeysverige

When asked about Covid testing he replies:
"-No, I dont have to do any tests because I had Corona a couple of weeks ago. But later when we get to Canada I will probably have to be tested like all the others."

It has been communicated earlier that everybody at the pre-camp was going to be tested three times during the pre-camp. That is obviously not the case. Players who's had Corona earlier dont get tested. Is that wise?

By absolute certainty, there are several more players at the pre-camp, who, like Olausson has had it before.

fair enough... i feel the Swedes are deep enough to not miss a beat. Solid on the back end and in goal. Some will probably be worried about their round robin record. ..

That, my friend is a streak we could happily be without!

I don't get why they wouldn't just test them anyways....like is there a random shortage of tests or something?

I'm no epidemiologist but obviously anyone who catches covid will test negative before they have it, and then up to a certain point once they're infected enough that they'll start to test positive. Testing negative 10 times in the past month doesn't mean anything if he caught it last week.

It would be more of a story if he tested negative 10 times, positive once, and then negative 4 times afterwards. If that's the story here and I misunderstood then my bad, but anyone who is tested regularly and catches covid will test negative a bunch and then finally positive once they actually get infected. I don't see the story here.

Same for the coach. Maybe they caught it in transit to camp

It was more stated as an answer to a comment questioning the testing regimen for swedish pro teams. At least my comment on the matter.

Well look at that, it took a worldwide pandemic to rid Sweden of Coach Monten.

Still remember when he tanked that star-studded 2018 team. Pettersson, Liljegren, Dahlin, Nylander...how do you screw that up?

Montén coached pretty well in that tournament up until the third period of the GMG.
