It was surprising because I would agree that's the weakest part of his game...but that shot was so wicked and released so quickly it threw the goalie down and out of position which is why it went in after the hop

Yea he gets off a good shot sometimes so its something hes capable of and will get better at. When his finish is lacking its because sometimes hes aiming his shot top shelf and it comes off as almost a flub into the goalies shoulder.

The only negative I noticed with Spence is he gets caught on the wrong side in his own zone, he sometimes drifts too far to the outside. A minor, positional thing that can be taught. He's been damn impressive. Same with Grans, I wasn't expecting him to look so polished.

It's very weird to see Kings prospects games where they are obviously more skilled, creative, and prepared than the other teams are. I think we are finally seeing the change in draft philosophy over the last few years and reaping the rewards for being so shitty lately.

I'm prepared to believe it's at least partially due to a number of guys looking to stand out and try and secure a contract/minutes/rep whatever.

Every year there are guys that play to make themselves look better rather than play to make the team more competitive. It just shows up more glaringly when it's a penalty. When it's a guy trying to score every time he touches the puck instead of looking to make the pass we laud them for it.
