It would be interesting to hear Ducharme speak about some of our players when he gets back. With Team Canada and in the QMJHL, he's coached Stephens, Cirelli, Raddysh, Joseph, Foote, Katchouk, Somppi, Point, ABB, and Walcott, who are all here in the building. He's only going to be facing Cirelli and Point, but he could be facing a lot more of those guys next season.

I can easily see us dropping game 1 and another one due to our trademark inconsistency.

You'd really like to think this wouldn't happen again, but this is one area this team still hasn't earned a benefit of the doubt. They have strong records in games 2-7 of any given series overall, but Game 1 when at home is just an unsolvable puzzle for them. I've never seen anything like it. I posted after Game 1 vs. NYI that they have, by far, the worst record in series opening home games this century of any team in the NHL that's played a substantial number of them.

So the Habs might lack true superstar player(s) but they’re a four line team. Their 4th line is the hottest in the league. Very balanced forwards group we should not underestimate and which arguably was the downfall of their opponents so far. They’re also 3-0 (or 4-0?) in OTs this postseason while we’re 0-2. They took the underdog role and turned it into a Cinderella run.

Their team stats are very similar to ours: Their PK is strong (better than ours even at 93% vs. 83%), they allow more shots than they take, they’re below 50% on faceoffs and their goaltending is exceptional. Both teams have not used their backup so far.

Our PP on the other hand has been absolutely deadly. With almost 38% success rate, more than one out of three PPs results in a goal for us. Their PP is at 21%. And we have clear cut key players in Kuch and Point - who can create something out of nothing seemingly at will - and at least statistically Killer, Stamkos and Hedman at around a point per game, which they don’t have.

All this against different opponents so this needs to be taken with a grain of salt of course.

I'm not too worried about their skilled guys like Suzuki and Caufield. Josh Anderson, on the other hand, could give us some trouble. Have to punish their smaller forwards, hopefully our D brings the physical game especially in front of the net.

A huge reason MTL has had success is their top 4 d, especially Weber/Edmundson/Chiarot giving opposing forwards absolute hell the closer they get to Price. Interested to see how Point and Kucherov hold up against the big boys.

Islanders have some physical forwards but outside of Mayfield, nobody was really a presence on D in that area. Montreal is almost the opposite, not much outside of Anderson at forward but the defense will rough you up. We'll have to pay a price but I like the way we match up aginst them.

I think its closer than people think as far as bucs and bolts. Rays are popular on TV but have trouble getting fans to the games where lightning has not had that problem and bucs have somewhat had that problem but won't with Brady. If we're doing it based on the last decade it's probably

1. Bolts
2. Bucs
3. Rays

I think it's just over-confidence. We need a wake up call now and again, and that's where it tends to happen.

Some people seem to think we've never played a team that sits back and counters before, when it's literally all we've seen in the playoffs for ages lol.

Haha this, we'll eat them alive if they think they can rely on the 1-3-1 to stop us. Our first good stretch pass and some early effective forecheck and their system will collapse in on itself.

Before more are added, I wanted to list why we will not win this year, and should not have before, according HF Boards. Feel free to add:
  • We cheated by having $19m in LTIR, so not cap compliant
  • Kucherov should not be allowed to play in the playoffs as he was faking being injured and could have played in the regular season, just so Bolts were cap compliant.
  • Bolts had too many men on the ice game 3 versus NYI
  • Bolts has too many men on the ice when we scored in game 7 versus NYI
  • Last year was not really a real win because of the bubbles, so it should have an asterisk next to any reference to the winner.
  • We only win because the refs give us power plays. Every opponent has been better 5 on 5.
  • We have an unfair advantage with no state income tax.
  • We are a bunch of goons, cheapshot artists , and divers.
  • We cheated to get our first cup, as the Flames should have won game 6, and the cup.

Question. That Caufield kid appears to be a talent. I don't want to be like the Isles goons and injure opposing stars so how can you check somebody who is literally 5'7" (probably measured on skates given what I see on the ice) without checking him in the head? He's at least a full foot shorter than Hedman.

Some fans in Montreal were worried about that until they saw him play a few games. Caufield is really hard to check because he's always in motion and has an exceptional vision on ice. In the 10 regular season and 15 post season games he played, I haven't seen him get hit significantly hard more that once or twice. So the Bolts might try to hit him hard, but I'm not sure they'll succeed! On the same topic, Suzuki is a 21 year old centre that is improving every series he plays and a real clutch player. You'll see by yourself... Not a very fast skater, but a very high IQ, good hands, a very good vision, good passer and elite wrist shot. Still lacking a bit of experience, but as I said, improving every series. Vegas tried to hit him and got him solid one time... His next shift, he scored a very important goal!

We're not a team that typically tries to impose ourselves physically, but I think we will in this series for sure.

Agreed. We don't typically go out of the way to hit unless provoked or the other team decides its that type of Game, then we step.up physically.

The team is definetly not affraid to bump but don't need to rely on it like other teams do

Yeah. Sometimes I think we intentionally start the after-the-whistle stuff in order to get emotionally involved. I think there will be a lot of face-washing.
