What is going on with Connor Bedard?

He was supposed to be the next superstar but he simply hasn’t looked good. 5 goals in his last 33 games. 8 in his last 43. Only 3 goals all season. On pace to score under 20. Is on pace to score less than last year. Looks invisible lately. Seems unable to get to the middle of the ice. His shots are extremely easy for goaltenders to save. He’s often knocked off the puck with ease. He’s also not a good defender and faceoff guy.

Did Chicago take the wrong player? Should they have drafted Michkov instead? He’s looking entirely better. I think they should have taken the Russian.

Starting to think Bedard is extremely overrated and might not be a superstar in this league. People say he’s only 19, but he’s been labeled a generational talent for years. Crosby and McDavid were dominating at his age in their sophomore seasons, winning scoring titles and MVPs. People bring up Nathan MacKinnon also having a slow start to his career, but Mack has qualities, size and speed, that Bedard simply does not. Guys like Ryan Donato are outperforming Bedard right now. Teuvo Teravainen, a good NHL player, hasn’t helped Bedard take the next step. Sure, the roster isn’t great, but is that really a good excuse?

Sure, maybe the McDavid and Crosby comparisons were a bit lofty, but at this rate he may not even be on MacKinnon’s/Matthews’/Kucherov’s/Draisaitl’s/Kane’s/Ovi’s/Malkin’s/Kaprisov’s/Point’s/Stamkos’/Jack Hughes’ level.

Is it time to worry? Sure, maybe the McDavid and Crosby comparisons were a bit lofty, but at this rate he may not even be on MacKinnon’s/Matthews’/Kucherov’s/Draisaitl’s/Kane’s/Ovi’s/Malkin’s/Kaprisov’s/Point’s/Stamkos’/Jack Hughes’ level.

Are you asking us if YOU should be worried? You clearly seem to be worried, so what’s the point in asking that.

Matvei Michkov’s team isn’t any better
Oh? He's not even leading his team in scoring, while Bedard is leading his.
and yet he has double the goals and the same amount of points in 2 less games played.
Same number of points in 2 fewer games played with such a sample size... is that what's making you panic so?

Also, those 2 extra points are on power play. They have the same number of even strength goals, too.

More worried for his sake. Honestly, Bedard busting after all the terrible things the Chicago organization has done would be amusing.

The fakeness is revealed. You’re worried for his sake? Then you say you’d enjoy seeing him fail out of spite for the Blackhawks? Very troll-ish. And pick a lane, dude.

Michkov probably would have more points if Torts didn’t bench him for god knows why
Mind, I think Bedard should be playing in AHL instead of NHL, but unfortunately, that is not possible with NHL's pact with CHL.

Nevertheless, he lead his team in scoring last year, and he's leading his team in scoring this year. He's not a McDavid, that's for sure, but few players are. Even he had a stronger supporting cast, though.

Look, Ryan Donato is the leading offensive threat for Chicago Blackhawks this year, after Bedard. Donato's career high is 31 points.

Joined nov 16, 2024... you're so worried you made an account today to tell everyone how worried you are! That's pretty worried...
What, if I waited for months it would be any different? I’m just trying to start a discussion.

Him going to Rockford would be a huge red flag. You have to be pretty bad as a first overall pick to end up in the AHL.

It's not about being bad, it's about what's good for your development. He can stick in NHL just fine, but I think that having to survive in NHL could cause issues for his future development.

And yeah, I'm assuming you are concern [forbidden term that I can't say on here but performing it is fine] but I'm still replying in good faith.

Uh oh, guy with less than 100 games played going through a slump playing for a shitty team. Ever heard of patience?
Nah, this is beyond a slump. He’s not even succeeding in getting scoring chances and isn’t getting many shots on net. Maybe he’s not suited to play center and should be permanently moved to wing. Though this means that Chicago now has a hole at 1C. They don’t even have a 2C.

Makes Chicago taking Levshunov (who hasn’t looked good in the AHL) over Demidov even more foolish.

53 shots on net, second on the team(Ryan Donato, career high 31 points) has 39 shots.

Matvei Michkov has 28 shots on goal, by the way. Since you're making such a big deal of him having 3 more goals than Bedard. If Bedard was shooting at Michkov's shooting%, Bedard would have 12 goals.

Bedard is 2 shots behind Ovechkin, a known volume shooter. Bedard is 31st in the league in shots on goal.

Bedard's ixG is 5.5. Michkov's is 3.2.
