With their second pick (#49) I'd like to see the Kings scouting staff take Olen Zellweger. The kid is a super late birthday (6 days from the 2022 draft). He is listed at 5'10". I think being as how is he so young that he will grow ....... maybe 6'0". His strength's are his skating and his hockey IQ. He plays a strong transitional game.

If Zellweger isn't available then I hope they look at Shai Buium, Scott Morrow or William Stromgren if they are available. One draft ranking I looked at (NHL Draft Black Book) showed Aatu Raty at pick #56. If he is available at #49 I hope they take a chance on him.

With pick #72 I hope they look at Bryce Montgomery, Ryan Ufko or Oscar Plandowski.

With our later round picks I hope they take a look at some of the D+1 players like James Hardie, Victor Mancini and Maximilian Glotzl.

I also read that Henrick Rybinski is a draft re-entry....... I think he is worth a look.

Would be crazy if Raty dropped past 50. Wow.

I feel pretty bad for that kid, getting tagged with that label so early is something very difficult to live up to, and no doubt it affected his play since.

Hopefully he gets picked by a team that has some prospect depth and he can be one of the guys and not having to live up to the hype put on him by the same people dragging him now.

Thought #49 was now Nashville’s?

In Steve Kournianos' podcast, he mentioned that Räty said there was a loss of love for the game.

Undoubtedly, it would be one of the biggest falls from pre-draft projection of first overall since Angelo Esposito in 2007.

Nick Ebert says hi! Dude was supposed to be a Top3 pick (some had him #1OA the year before his draft) and he was the last pick of the draft.

Raty at 50? Steep drop. But that is good value. He is projected as a good 3C with size. I guess we'll see how the other scouts view him and his motivation issues.

Oh yeah, I forgot Ebert. I think he was a more consensus top-5 pick pick than a consensus First overall. But good point as far as fall from grace within 1 year.

The Hockey News Draft Issue has or had that article on the last page where they mention the top players projected in the next two drafts. Always fun to go back and read. In his D-2 year they had Teubert listed as a potential first overall as an offensive force combined with nasty physicality.

This is art, not science.

I dunno, seems like they were right, we just all read the wrong definition!

You guys are dreaming about Edvinsson making it to 8...

2021 NHL Draft: Simon Edvinsson vs. Luke Hughes

In a poll conducted by NHL.com of 10 NHL scouts who were asked which player they would choose if given the option, Edvinsson earned an 8-2 advantage.

Besides Power, Edvinsson may be the first defenseman in the draft to go, with Hughes going right after him, perhaps leaving Clarke to fall to us at 8.

Though, it kind of depends on what Detroit does with the 6 OA.

If this is the worse case senario.
Power - Berniers - Hughes - Edvinsson - Eklund - Clarke - Guenther - #8?

Which means we select from a pool of:
McTavish
Johnson
Lucius
Sillinger
Wallstedt
Lysell
Lambos

I would move the pick down a few spots and get another asset.

I'm not sure if I have seen any of the comparisons, but watching Clarke's older and even more recent Slovakia clips I think he's a little like Erik Karlsson... in that he likes to push the play from the back end and he is a deadly force when he gets into the offensive zone because of his playmaking, shot, and ability to jump back door when the opposing team least expects it.

That would be an astronomical drop. But... like how Kaliyev dropped and thankfully we took him on Day 2... I do love me a draft day steal. :box:

What if Raty is only temporarily depressed due to Covid? And as soon as Covid goes away, he'll return to form???
