Added HockeyProspect's Black Book to OP. They are fantastic as far as draft guides. Pricey, but they also try to emulate how an NHL team ranks and categorizes them.

If there's a guide I'm missing in OP, let me know and I'll add a link. I need to go back and cycle through the ones I have.

like the look of that ranking. Especially when you consider it seems a given New Jersey will take Hughes way higher that he should go.

Maybe CBus takes Wallstedt now? Shitty situation that is.

definitely shitty situation and very sad, but I did not think he was regarded as that level of prospect to be a future #1. Thought him more like Villiata level where it's too soon to see what he cannot be but it's unlikely he reaches that level.

Unknown, but count on the media to really, really play up this angle come draft day. It's 'cuz they're sleazy & constantly seek to generate ratings in sleazy ways.....

I'd think that'd be unlikely, although Columbus has been doing the unexpected at the draft in recent years. Kivlenieks was maybe going to push for a backup spot next season if they dealt Korpisalo. Columbus has done okay with economical goalies. I think they have some hope for 2017 3rd rounder Daniil Tarasov who had a .925 sv% in the KHL this season and got into a handful of AHL games.

If I’m Blake, I create a $1M bonus money pool for the scouting department this offseason. If the first round pick comes in and scores 18 goals next year on the Kings, it gets paid out. $375k straight to Yanetti. The remainder split evenly among the rest of the group. Matt Greene can go buy two of the new Broncos and “loan” one of them to the kid drafted.

when the consensus 1OA is talking about going back to school next year I think it is safe to say no one from the 2021 draft is potting 18 goals in 21-22.

Could also be he doesn't want to go through that drama in Buffalo next year as well.

If the Kings keep the pick, which I think they will, I am fine with any of the names mentioned herein.

I lean towards Guenther, Quinn or Wallstedt, as I think all are BPA at 8OA and fill an organizational need, but if it's Johnson, McTavish, Lysell, I'm good.

I think Johnson will be the best offensive player in this draft. If he is there I want LA to take him.

I bought the Blackbook last year. It is pricey but I really enjoyed it. Their write ups are very in depth and they thoroughly explain their views and ranking system. I also really like seeing quotes from actual NHL scouts about the different prospects.

Like to see the Kings take Guenther,Hughes or Wallstedt in that order if they are available! If they take a forward or goaltender then defense, defense, defense the rest of the way through with maybe Ryan St Louis thrown in the 4-5th round

Matiss Kivlenieks life was cut short by an awful accident which makes it even more tragic. Very sad. I had him as one of the goaltenders taken in the Expansion draft so I thought he was more along the line of a future NHLer than M Villalta ever will be

On seeing Johnson play I first am underwhelmed by size. But that should not take away from the talent and skill he possesses. The kicker is trying to project whether he will become stronger, faster, better? And can he play the Wing?18 year draft is sometimes tough to determine talent/skill

He was playing left wing next to Beniers in Michigan.

NHL Staff Mock Draft 2.0 with scouts' audit: Do the Canucks win the draft? Will the Wild get a center?

Has Kent Johnson going @ 7 to SJ...

8. Los Angeles Kings: Brandt Clarke, RHD, Barrie-OHL
If the Kings get a crack at drafting a defenseman in the top 10, it should make their decision that much more straightforward if Clarke is there. The last time they selected a defenseman in the top 10 was Drew Doughty In 2008. Currently, their pipeline is crowded like rush-hour traffic on the 405 freeway with forwards, in particular centers. One scouting analyst recently told me that Clarke, who opted to go to Slovakia to play for HC Nove Namky this past season, plays a lot like Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks and threw in Erik Karlsson of the Sharks for good measure, adding: “I love the mind. I love what he does.” -Lisa Dillman

Mason McTavish has really rose through the ranks the past couple of months. Has Detroit nabbing him @ 6 and is such the Yzerman move.

With their second pick (#49) I'd like to see the Kings scouting staff take Olen Zellweger. The kid is a super late birthday (6 days from the 2022 draft). He is listed at 5'10". I think being as how is he so young that he will grow ....... maybe 6'0". His strength's are his skating and his hockey IQ. He plays a strong transitional game.

If Zellweger isn't available then I hope they look at Shai Buium, Scott Morrow or William Stromgren if they are available. One draft ranking I looked at (NHL Draft Black Book) showed Aatu Raty at pick #56. If he is available at #49 I hope they take a chance on him.

With pick #72 I hope they look at Bryce Montgomery, Ryan Ufko or Oscar Plandowski.

With our later round picks I hope they take a look at some of the D+1 players like James Hardie, Victor Mancini and Maximilian Glotzl.

I also read that Henrick Rybinski is a draft re-entry....... I think he is worth a look.
