He was, but we acquired him without enough of a supporting cast. The closest thing that he ever had to a complete team in LA was that 2000-01 team after Blake was traded and that only lasted until the Allison trade

Imagine how Kopitar has felt for the majority of his time in LA. Other than the cup run he’s basically been a 1 man offensive unit

I hate the idea that the Kings may trade their 2021 pick! Call me an old timer but I go back to the days when the Kings traded pick after high pick left, right and centre! That was the 70's when the Kings kept only one from those bygone years...As a consolation they found a scrawny RW named DT in the 15th round,210 overall...Don't want to see LA make the Trade but I guess some drafts pick have to inevitably...parted with...hope its not some 7-8 year vet with a huge contract

Some major Jay Bouwmeester vibes from Power
Haven't seem enough of Power to make that judgement. But if he goes number 1 which he will and there is a push to turn him pro now,Power may not turn out to be more than a number 4 at best and a 5th at worst. An extra of Major Juniors,College/University, and/or European development never hurt anyone

Have to say, people crap all over Hoven on here for his rumors (and I guess at times it seems well deserved given how declarative his statements are), but I don’t see any other LA based writer covering the upcoming draft. I think thus far it’s only been his site and @FrozenRoyalty who have articles about the draft.
I appreciate his coverage of the team, I'm not a fan of him talking down to people and acting like he knows everything and is never wrong

I like both players and would be happy with either. Edvinsson has some similarities to Sergachev, and will have a lot of time to iron out his wrinkles at Frolunda (if he makes it there full time). He's a guy that could reward your patience and arrive developed in his very early 20s. He influences a wide area of the ice, just needs to calm down and improve his decision making.

Basically because of the emergence of McTavish, it's all but certain that either a defenseman or Guenther will be their at #8, if that doesn't happen, I imagine they will take McTavish themselves.

Or that goalie....

Any chance we trade back and pick Carson Lambos? A top rated defenseman coming into the year that dropped a bit? Not sure how far down we go and what the deal would be but that would be the idea to pick Lambo and maybe another 2 that can be packaged to move up into the late 1st round or higher in 2nd?

He doesn't use his size well at all or physically engage. At least in my opinion.
A little off topic did u do /or will u do a write up on Colton Lambos? I like his upside I think hes solid defensively with some offensive upside? Your thoughts would be appreciated

We are not trading our #8 pick now. First off we just traded our 2nd round pick for Arvindsson and we have a chance of drafting a really good solid LD Dman or a potential #1 goalie.

I only see a trade using that #8 done possibly at the draft if both those options are out and the next best available player is not what we really need. Trade will have to be for a D man we need, no bridge type player.

I'll put it as less than 5% possibility that the pick gets moved in a trade for such a player.

This draft is going to be such a crapshoot. Let's use Lambos as an example. His stock has "dropped" somewhat, but he's being graded on 19 games played in 4 different leagues. That was his season. Traveling to Finland to play for JYP, 2 games for the U18, 13 games for the U20, then 2 games with the big club. Then 2 games in the WHL. Lambos could very well end up being the top defender in this draft.

I'd be fascinated with the idea of both Edvinsson and Clarke being available at #8 -- which player the Kings would pick. I think Clarke is the better player, but Edvinsson fills that LHD role and with big-time size to boot. Small chance it happens, but it's possible. Heck, it could happen and we still go a different direction. They might view Edvinsson the better player and it's waste of my brain power. Just won't know until draft day. It's just the curiosity of what the Kings would do if both options are available and picking between them.

I think Edvinsson will be the better D once both are fully developed.

Seems like the Kings could be in the hunt for Edvinsson if Columbus doesn't take him first,Wallstedt if NJ,Detroit(not likely) of even SJose takes him or even Guenther if he's not snatched up. All are good players. The Kings have a boatload of prospects but few are bonfide scorers and no one can be a top 4 D-man just yet(Faber) has a chance in a year or two.Seems like Blake has been calling about S Jones and pretty much everyone that's in play coming free agency
