I'm having a very hard time getting excited for this draft. I really want to but I feel like they are going to trade.

The last time I recall the Kings trading a top 10 pick prior to a draft was when they had the 8th overall pick in 1999 to acquire some guy named Zigmund, and they also got a second line center to come along with him.

Would be nice to make another deal like that.

the closest think I can see to this is with St. Louis and we get Tarasenko and Dunn. Dunn filling a hole in Defence instead of center.

Unfortunately I don’t like Dunn and Tank has a massive contract, is UFA in two years and has a questionable shoulder. I love watching him play though.

I do not agree with you.
I believe that after watching hockey for last 50 years of my life I am entitle to have my own opinion about which prospect will be better.
P.S. I watched both Bjornfot and Faber on world juniors 2020 and Faber was much better player there…
You are entitled to your own opinion I wasn't disrespecting you...And us 50 year plus veterans of watching hockey have to stick together...you like Faber better...that's fine...I like Bjornfot and that's OK too...just like to see the Kings return to play-offs and Stanley Cup contention and those two will help

Now Tarasenko and Parayko...

They need a dynamic scoring winter. They need a defenseman to eventually replace Doighty. They need a blue chip goalie.

Lots of needs right now.
A few needs for sure...but the Kings have the deepest prospect pool around by far...the next two teams combined don't have LA's depth, talent and skill! They just have to be put in the best developmental place possible to reach their collective potential

Faber really took huge steps this year. I'm really excited to see what he can do next season but I really think the sky is the limit for him.
I don't watch much US College/University hockey so I'll be pumped to see Faber in team USA colours for the World 2022 Junior Championships! I bet he'll be one of the best D-men around in the whole tournament

Pretty much every projected roster has him on the top pair with Jake Sanderson, or anchoring the second pair to split up Sanderson and Faber (and have one of them on the ice for 80% of the game). He's going to be playing a huge role this year.

I think Johnson is better than Pronman gave him credit for. The closest thing we have to Johnson in our system is probably Tyler Madden, but Johnson has so much potential. A lot of the things he does arw reminiscent to Patrick Kane. But the question is worth asking: what does a worse Patrick Kane look like?

Maybe Madden is the closest comp. Too bad Madden missed most of last year. It seemed like he was possibly the best forward in the preseason games for the Reign. Wrobo was
really high on him. Will be an important year for Madden. I suppose if there are some prospects not named Byfield , Turcotte, Kaliyev, Faber moved, that leaves ones like Madden,
Thomas, Fagemo, Kupari possibilities. Although I would love to keep them all.

I would rather draft Lucius and Sillinger, over Johnson. I was not seeing him beat anyone with speed. The puck wizardry will not go so far at the NHL level,
without some speed and more strength, for that matter. I see Lucius and Sillinger being the better players, 2-3 years out. (based on what I read and clips)
I also think Wallstedt would be the better selection over Johnson. I hope Kent becomes a great player, nothing against him. I'd even consider Coronato, over him.

Johnson does not beat defense with straight speed, he does it with evasiveness and shiftiness in his skating.
Also his natural hockey IQ is unbelievable.
Madden is good, but Johnson so much better.
I believe Johnson is on different level of talent comparing to Lucius, Sillinger and Wallstedt…

Johnson will be my first choice for 8th pick if Kings did not need elite defensemen so bad…

I agree that Johnson is a much better prospect than Madden, just that he's the closest comparable we have in our system. I think Johnson in the 6-10 range fits. I'd rather have one of the four defensemen and maybe Eklund or Beniers, but Johnson, Guenther, or Wallstedt would be great consolation prizes for us.

To me Johnson and Eklund have the same level of talent.
Beniers has a little less talent, but he is safer choice.
For Kings I will take Johnson and Eklund before Beniers.

I’m on the opposite fence. Eklund is intriguing. Berniers is just a solid player.

Id love to land Brandt Clarke. I think hes going to be a gem in this draft class.

Wallstedt would not hurt my feelings either as there seems to be an organizational need at G.

For those who have watched, is Sillinger too much of a reach at 8? Mason Mactavish is a wicked goal scorer but maybe wont be available at 8 and his foot speed is questionable

There is, in my opinion of course, like 10-12 guys who I could see at #8. Sillinger is definitely one of them.

Would be nice to make another deal like that.
Olli Jokinen, Josh Green and Mathieu Biron were also part of the deal.

The equivalent package today would be:
8th OA
Vilardi
Bjornfot
JAD

for

27 year old 1st line winger
27 year old second line center.

Would you do it?

Equivalent package? Biron as good as Bjornfot? Vilardi will never be as good as Jokinen and JAD is 10 times better than Josh(steroid)Green

Absolutely, 10 times out of 10 you make that deal.
Granted, who in the NHL today is similar to Ziggy? Im also sure the cost for that player would be slightly more than what you posted..
Auston Matthews comes to mind as a comp but that’s a stretch.. Now I’m really curious, who is the modern version of Ziggy?
