Talking about the "return" for Buch is kind of missing the point. We think Drury "targeted" Blais? lol nope

Built up all these good young players like buch and have a elite prospect pool just to F it up and essentially set it on fire. Looking forward to the strome bottom pair dman trade

Blais is a good bottom 6 player and signed to a good contract and will be RFA next summer. Buch is coming off an anomaly of a season where he played lights out for half of it and is probably going to get a larger contract than the Rangers can afford with other players, especially wingers, coming along. (Kakko, Krav, Fox, Laf, Miller, Igor) Can't keep everyone. It's still a business and for a player without a contract that has leverage for a pay day, this return isn't that bad. And a second next year is pretty good too. Deeper draft. Some people get too attached to players and it clouds judgement. I am guilty of that too, but you got to remain as objective as possible.

Teams knew Drury was in a bind with the cap. Drury had to move the player but the return should have been more.
Correct, I would've thought two 2nds w blais but it is what it is. There's something else coming so I will reserve judgement until the whole picture is there

You’re right except about this being “not bad” value. It’s really bad. A first line winger for a fourth line winger and a second is bad.

Didn't realize Buch was Venezuelan currency and tough bottom 6 players were bitcoin. The mistakes on this are clearly re-traceable to other obvious mistakes.

All of this is true.

This is still a bad trade value wise.

We're overpaying to get the players we want and try to emulate Tampa's success.

Yes, the value in the moves suck. If we win, what does it matter?

These trades and signings, in a vacuum, will have bad optics. Drury doesn't have a lot of leverage here.
