The St. Louis HF Board negotiated that trade. Their argument was 1) he's a Russian so he can leave for the K at the drop of a hat, 2) he doesn't play physical hockey because of point 1, and 3) he was a third round pick so its a windfall to get a second and a roster player.

That's fair, but I am not sure I feel the same as some here about Buch's value around the league. He doesn't have a contract and is going to make a pretty penny. I just think the Rangers couldn't pay it and people knew that.

If this is all you're getting for Buch, what's the hurry in making the deal right now? Wait to see who's left standing after UFA and other players get moved. This trade would have been there in later in the summer.
