If the silver fox doesn't having anything on it then there is nothing to that other post.
I understand the logic behind moving him. The asset management was terrible. There's a long thread that hashed it out so I won't start it up again here. I acknowledge that there are mitigating circumstances that hurt Buchnevich's value. I'm holding them accountable for that since they created the circumstances.Teams know how much money Buchnevich wants and many teams don't want to him that type of money. The Rangers have been trying to trade Buchnevich since May. He is looking at $5M-$6M. The alternative is the Rangers keeping him for one season and letting him walk next summer or trading him as a rental. The issue is Buchnevich would be playing minutes the Rangers want to see allocated to their other younger wingers. Those young wingers need to opportunity to play to get there. They aren't becoming top NHL players without getting the opportunity to play major minutes.
He has a NMC so I am not so certain it will happen.
I just have so much fear after the return we got for Buchnevich.
I doubt these Zibanejad rumors are for real. I don’t buy it
Now that’s a great post!!!!LGR!agree 100%. Drury brought in 2 guys that emulate gallants style of play. Both play 110% and hit everything. Goodrow is a proven valuable 3rd liner integral for Tampa winning 2 cups. NYR had none of this in their current line up. Our kids need big minutes, wasn’t going to happen with Buch still in the fold. Sad to see him go, but excited for the future. A full season of Barron, Goodrow, and Blais completely revamps the culture and effort on our bottom 6.
It also inserts 2 guys that can change the ebbs and flows of the game with a big hit, or amazing individual efforts like Goodrow in game 7 against the isles.
Not having any guys like that in our line up killed this team last year. That’s why we saw a ton of flat vanilla play. And a coach who couldn’t get the best out of his guys. He rectified both things so far. These 2 guys really get the crowd into the game with their play. When we lost Lemmy and ADA, those were the last 2 guys on our current roster that really did that.
The major talent is still here, and the best is still to come as far as the kids go, but we were sorely lacking that other aspect.
As far as Othmann, seems like a good prospect. Happy to add him to the stable. I may have went in another direction, but that’s true in the last 5 drafts for me. So currently step off the ledge guys. Future is bright.
What rumors?
Jesus…I get that…FWIW: Ekman-Larsson has a NMC and he was traded yesterday.
I mean, this is an obvious silver lining. I am curious though, is this need to get the young studs more opportunity the result of a change of philosophy (new regime) or simply part of the plan? Where was this thinking last season?Teams know how much money Buchnevich wants and many teams don't want to him that type of money. The Rangers have been trying to trade Buchnevich since May. Could be a contract extension tooJoe’s brother View attachment 455722
I don’t think he’s eligible. I just think he’s trying to throw fuel to the fire to rile up Ranger fans.Could be a contract extension too
He can officially sign an extension once the new NHL calendar year starts on WednesdayI don’t think he’s eligible. I just think he’s trying to throw fuel to the fire to rile up Ranger fans.
Hmmmm my badI don’t think he’s eligible. I just think he’s trying to throw fuel to the fire to rile up Ranger fans.
Would Joe have any insight to player movement and would he share that with his brother? If he did have access I doubt he'd share that information.
Yep. And presumably St. Louis is one of the few teams that raised their hand and said they’re willing to pay the freight. So that limits his market and the Rangers leverage. They kind of ended up taking a little less to get it done quick and - presumably - land Buch in a good environment and also a place where he can’t really hurt us, either.Teams know how much money Buchnevich wants and many teams don't want to him that type of money.
