Dude, come on.

We have a 23 year old who just won the Norris in Fox, a top 5 player in the whole league in Panarin, legit starting goalie in Shesty, last year’s 1st overall pick in Laf. Not to mention the deepest prospect pool in the NHL stacked with young talent and a brand new coach who should elevate everyone.

It sucks to lose Buch but he’s more a cap causality than anything else. I love him but the writing was on the wall. Kravtsov and Kakko should fill the void.

Things are good.

agree 100%. Drury brought in 2 guys that emulate gallants style of play. Both play 110% and hit everything. Goodrow is a proven valuable 3rd liner integral for Tampa winning 2 cups. NYR had none of this in their current line up. Our kids need big minutes, wasn’t going to happen with Buch still in the fold. Sad to see him go, but excited for the future. A full season of Barron, Goodrow, and Blais completely revamps the culture and effort on our bottom 6.
It also inserts 2 guys that can change the ebbs and flows of the game with a big hit, or amazing individual efforts like Goodrow in game 7 against the isles.
Not having any guys like that in our line up killed this team last year. That’s why we saw a ton of flat vanilla play. And a coach who couldn’t get the best out of his guys. He rectified both things so far. These 2 guys really get the crowd into the game with their play. When we lost Lemmy and ADA, those were the last 2 guys on our current roster that really did that.
The major talent is still here, and the best is still to come as far as the kids go, but we were sorely lacking that other aspect.
As far as Othmann, seems like a good prospect. Happy to add him to the stable. I may have went in another direction, but that’s true in the last 5 drafts for me. So currently step off the ledge guys. Future is bright.

Where are we picking in the 2nd? What centres are likely still available by that time? Any chance we try and move up?

Edit: Nevermind. Curse you Marc Staal!

Will he be traded for a 4th liner and 2 seconds. We shall find out tomorrow I guess

Mika Zibanejad traded to Vegas for Brayden McNabb and Ryan Reaves

I have to ask is anyone else incredibly annoyed by Emily Kaplan? Her cutesy anecdotes add nothing to the draft and her voice is nails on a chalkboard.

Maybe it's just me but she sounded drunk

Something like this below playing out today would not surprise me. Not one bit. Bits and pieces I have heard (or somewhat relevant) about, but a lot is what I personally think Dark Slather would like to do. And his overly eager apprentice Will just follow his command. Soon we shall see…

Trades at draft today
  • Ryan Strome, Julien Gauthier and # 114 to Seattle for #34, Carson Soucy and Kurtis MacDermid. My preference - Choose Raaty at #34.
  • Alexander Georgiev to Buffalo for #56. My preference - Choose the best - not biggest - center here available.
  • Libor Hajek, Tony Bitetto + very small add to Vegas for Ryan Reaves
  • Draft - my preference - Go for a couple BOOM/BUST talent in rounds 3-7. Especially unknown risers and sleepers at the end. It has been a strange year.
Signings
  • Sign UFA Danualt to a 6 year deal. Not my preference - but I see that happening if The Simple Jack negotiations Finally irrevocably break down. One can Hope that the latter happens…
  • Sign UFAs Ryan Getzlaf and Jaroslav Halak to reasonable short term deals. My ideas
  • Sign Filip Chytil to 3 years @ $3.6M
  • Sign Igor Shesterkin to 4 years @ $5.25M
  • Qualify Fontaine, Gettinger, Huuska, Ronning and Rykov (keep rights)
  • Sign Adam Edstrom to ELC

I feel like it was a mistake to not award Tom Wilson the extra effort award after the impact he made to our line up.

When’s the 2nd round Start? could see more moves but not like yesterday

Dvorak a good fit since we know the cap hit for a bit?

I think the Othmann pick bore the brunt of the day's frustration. It's not a bad pick.

What we have is a crisis of confidence in the GM. The Dolan/Sather shadow looming over the postseason has some of us afraid. The Goodrow ticket was a crack in the foundation, not fatal but we are watching. The Buchnevich return looked like a firesale price. Get this radioactive player away. We were looking for some common sense pick to restore some confidence in Drury. Prove to us he doesn't have Sather's hand up his rear end up to the elbow, or that he can make a rational choice. Especially with an Eichel deal in the background.

I haven't laughed this much on HF ever as I have this past week. Get me Stankoven today, and a Foegle or Lomberg for our advanced meme game and I can get through the next few years of MacDermid.

Teams know how much money Buchnevich wants and many teams don't want to him that type of money. The Rangers have been trying to trade Buchnevich since May. He is looking at $5M-$6M. The alternative is the Rangers keeping him for one season and letting him walk next summer or trading him as a rental. The issue is Buchnevich would be playing minutes the Rangers want to see allocated to their other younger wingers. Those young wingers need to opportunity to play to get there. They aren't becoming top NHL players without getting the opportunity to play major minutes.

I seriously doubt we are trading Mika. As it is we need for center depth so losing your top C makes zero sense unless the package is too good to pass up
