I get Button's relatively low ranking of Lysell.

He's just a tad underwhelming when you watch him. Went into the U18s thinking he was going to be my favorite player at the tournament, but the offensive awareness just wasn't there. Combine that with just 3 points in 26 SHL games this year, just leaves you wanting more.

I'd still be happy with him at 14 due to the skating and high work rate. He just covers a tremendous amount of ice and I think he'll be a real asset at puck retrieval, forechecking and on transitions. However, higher end offensive IQ just isn't there aside from a few flashes. I don't think he's a future 1st line winger, maybe a Travis Konecny type

Seems like absolute worst case scenario he's a Janmark replacement

Lyssel is a lock for a top 9 nhl forward . He’s a very well rounded player from everything I’ve seen and heard .

Not gonna lie though , I’m kinda thinking if neither , coronato or any of the top 10 guys fall , I’m pretty okay with taking cossa . This guys the real deal and down the road this will give us one of the best goaltending duo in the league to back up one of the best blue lines in the league .

If they go goalie in the first round, I think my attitude would depend a lot more on what they do in rounds 2 and 3.

If they walk away with Wallstedt and a guy like Kisakov or Zellweger, I'd be pretty stoked. If they walk away with a goalie and low ceiling 2-way guys I'd be pretty disappointed.

Yea, I'm so over drafting the safe, bland, two way guys, like Faksa's the Dickinsons, the Dellandreas .. with all our missed picks I'd rather we try and hit the homerun elite offensive guys, and let the two-way players come via free agency.

Or even just pluck them off the waiver wire. This year was probably an anomaly in terms of guys waived before the season began but Oliver Kylington, Colin Blackwell, Antti Suomela were all waived before the season even began. Nikita Gusev, Vic Mete are examples from mid-season.

I assumed that’s what you were alluding to in your 1A/1B post. Wallstedt /Oettinger in net is a yes from me.

If both those guys turned out like how they're supposed to, I think you'd end up trading Oettinger since we'd probably have to pay big bucks on him while Wallstedt is performing well at the tail end of an ELC or on a bridge deal. That's assuming Wallstedt gets to the NHL and plays decently enough to be average as quickly as Oettinger has. I think Oettinger is ahead of schedule as far as goalie development goes, but also isn't so good (yet, hopefully) you couldn't just put him back in the AHL since we still have Khudobin and Bishop to deal with. So maybe you get Wallstedt on his last ELC year, and Oettinger, assuming he has panned out well, around some $5x5 deal, in 3 or 4 years. It would be a lot like if Bishop was in this year and Oettinger backed him, up, which would be good and cheap, but also very temporary.

Pronman did an article on each team’s biggest depth need for their prospect pool. He said our biggest need is wingers. I guess that’s technically true, but I’d much rather prioritize centers if all things are equal. Not feeling like we have a sure thing between damiani and dellandrea.

Edit, oh yeah, there’s also Bourque. I could see him and damiani ending up at wing, but I guess we’ll see.

The team doesn’t necessarily need it right now but the depth pool on d is looking pretty thin right now .

Nill and co could always trade up a few spots if they know they can get him in the late 30’s
The chances that nill and co value Kisakov as much as you , I or more than 14 other teams is probably pretty slim though .
