Ran the simulator for fun and this is what I got the first time
If we could nab Clarke at 7 that would be a steal. Of the consensus top 8 my list goes: Berniers/Hughes/Clarke/Power/Guenther/Eklund/Johnson/EdvinssonRan the simulator for fun and this is what I got the first time
Just like players can play their way up the draft list, players can play themselves down too. Its also possible some scouts didnt get to watch much of him and ended up watching tape later and re-evaluated where they rank himthe weird thing on the Hughes ranking was that when he was playing he was ranked in the 7-10 range. He gets injured. Doesn't play for the longest time and he's all of a sudden a top 4 pick, like wtf is going on here boys.
Something that hasn't really received much attention during 2021 prospect discussion, but is actually very important imo is the fact that Luke Hughes was born just 6 days before the age cutoff for this draft (Luke Bday falls on Sept 9th 2003...the cutoff is Sept 15th 2003). This makes him one of the youngest draft elidable prospects this year, and almost a full year younger than the likes of Power/Beniers/Johnson/Eklund (who are some of the oldest). Will be interesting to see him play with Power at Michigan next season (provided Power doesn't go pro).

Edvinsson had a good game against Canada even though Sweden lost. You can tell his strength is defensive IQ, his size and skating makes him impossible for his peers to get around him. He's not creative or much of a playmaker, but Edvinsson could play beside Nate Schmidt next season. It's like watching a more mobile, taller, stronger Edler.Stay away from Edvinsson, looked really bad against Latvia and USA. Big, skates well, but he doesn't scare teams when he has the puck on his stick. Rather take Hughes, Power and Clarke. Also there’s better value in the 2nd-4th round.
Stromgren, Rosen, Robertsson are draftable, they have some NHL calibre attributes and skating ability.
Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with you. But if the Canucks draft a d-man high in the first round, he'll be given every shot in training camp as long as he has a pulse. The blueline next year could be that bad.I don’t see any 2021 draft pick playing in the nhl next season.
think all of the Michigan wolverines return to school.
Cam York signed with Philly so there is a big opening on the Michigan D next season.
Not Guenther.I think we have a solid chance of getting one of Clarke, Beniers, Hughes, Guenther.
Getting hyped for a good draft pick is literally the only fun thing about being bad.
Not Guenther.
BEnning overruled scouts to select oJ, didn’t he? AND he traded away several second a and third round picks that could have been used to draft d.Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with you. But then you think back to Juolevi in 2016. Watching Sergachev, McAvoy, and Chychrun lighting it up these days, is a reminder that when it comes to drafting d-men--other than Hughes--the Canucks scouting has been as barren as the landscape in Death Valley.
Now you're just making stuff up to try and prove a point. Several is 5 or more btwBEnning overruled scouts to select oJ, didn’t he? AND he traded away several second a and third round picks that could have been used to draft d.

He said "and" but I digress2nd for Baertschi
2nd for Vey
2nd for Sutter
2nd for Toffoli
3rd for Dorset
3rd for Pedan
3rd in Kesler deal
So by your definition, several.
I agree. I like him but top 10? Just not getting it.Not Guenther.
We went through along this multiple times. Benning apparently overruled scouts to pick OJ. The next year he wanted Glass, but this time (after the OJ mistake) Linden stepped in and supported the scouts who wanted Petey. Go back and read June 2020. Lots there on this. Now you're just making stuff up to try and prove a point. Several is 5 or more btw
Edit apparently google says several is 2 or more. I've been lied to as a kid
Why not?Not Guenther.
Boeser goes top 12 in a redraft of one of the greatest drafts of all time. Best or 2nd best draft class in the last 20 years. To think a boeser in this draft class isn’t worth a top 5-10 pick is insane.Agreed. Unless they have elite-level potential I don't like taking wingers. Guenther's ceiling is basically what Boeser is now.

The upside. Could be way wrong here for sure. Lots of good traits but nothing real special. I'm no scout- if he improves everything he does well- he could be the best player in this draft. Then again you could say the same thing for a bunch of guys. What makes him a better pick than say.. Mason Mctavish? I would definitely pick him over a guy like Pinelli...but i'm hearing some wouldn't.Why not?
