Apparently, Benning is at the u18's scouting right now. Wouldn't be surprised if our first is from a player that catches his eye in the tournament. I could see them taking Lysell.

Yeah, the fact that both Benning and Weisbrod are at the U18s, coupled with the fact that there has been a much smaller body of Junior hockey this year, leads me to expect that this tournament is going to play very highly into how the Canucks rate the players for this draft.

The OHL kids haven't played at all this season. The U18s is going to take up a larger portion of games for all prospects and it's only like 6-7 games. That's the nature of the shortened seasons.

It will play very highly in all teams evaluations as it should they are playing their age class and younger.

Has any one or two established themselves as the front of the pack. The OHL didn’t play , and did the q play? Not sure. Such a bad year to have a high draft pick.

And Pettersson and Hughes and Boeser? Is that fair to say?
Actually this train of discussion has been gone over in other threads. If you go back and read them you will learn Benning’s laser choice as a negative. It was Bracket and the scouts who selected our top guys, except Hughes.

What’s then intel on him.

IMO the best center after Beniers. Having Pettersson/Horvat/Svechkov down the middle would be downright filthy.

Assuming Power/L.Hughes/Clarke are all gone before we pick otherwise you pick one of these guys to add to Q.Hughes/Rathbone/Juolevi.

Exciting to get to add another big piece to the young core.

Also, the 2022 draft looks like a 2015 calibre draft, so even if we make the playoffs we should be adding another big piece from that draft as well.

Mason McTavish has really impressed at the U18s. Reminds me of a bit of Horvat at his age, only more polished with an elite shot. Obviously Horvat's development was accelerated once his skating evolved. There are definitely going to be options whether we want to go RHD (Clarke, Ceulemans, Scott) or centre (Eklund, Johnson, Lucius, McTavish, Svechkov, Sillinger). Those are by far the two biggest areas of need for our prospect pool.

I got a gut feeling that McTavish is the right guy. My gut is also prone to lying so maybe not pick him.

Even if he is a winger that gives us the option to move Miller to the 3rd line C

Petey Boeser
Bo Hoglander
Miller Podkolzin/or Guenther

Thats 3 solids lines to sprinkle in Lind, Gad, Pearson and some of the other guys we have

I would much prefer a Dman though
Hughes
Juolevi?
Rathbone?
Schmidt
Myers isn't exactly a D core that doesnt need some major improvements too

Given the perilous state of the Canuck blueline, an impact d-men in the first round is almost a 'must'.

There's some good ones there in Clarke, Hughes, Edvinsson and Power. If the freefall continues, we might have a shot at one of them.
