Well, we won't have long to wait....draft lottery set for June 2nd, basically a month from his coming weekend.

The Canucks closing schedule would be brutal for a team in peak condition with all hands on deck....as it is, I can see the losses piling up. I think there's a good chance of a top-10 pick again at the very least. A top five pick is probably too much to hope for, but after the brutal season the Canucks have been through, that's about there is to look forward to.

Just play the kids in the last 14 games.....and wait for the lottery balls to drop....that should be the Canuck strategy going forward.

top 5 is really out of question. I was hoping at least a bottom 7 finish, looks like we have to settle in for 10th or 11th. At least Arizona will "kinda" cancels out Seattle there, but still. Arizona, SanJose and only Calgary has a legit chance at finishing ahead of us. The other teams sucks too much balls to even finish ahead of Vancouver.

Honestly I think we should trade our pick (assuming we are in the 10-15 range) for someone like Cernak or Dumba and move down in the draft. Having high picks are great but that pick is probably 2 years away from making the team and we could really use the help on the back end asap. Im also not to impressed with the guys who are labled as mid first round picks.

i would be on board for that if we had cap space

Looks like we’ll be picking in the 10-15 range… ugh

I think we have a chance to continue to sink. All the teams that had to come back from resting from Covid ALL. of them struggled for a while. Dallas, who was a great team, struggled, Miro hasn't even been the same, Buffalo lost 17 straight, With our season whining down I doubt we will fully recover by than because our season is pretty much over. I am still hopeful for a bottom 7ish finish.

They enter the really tough part of the schedule now. First 6 games, no back to backs. Now in their final 13, they will feel it. Most teams now have 6-8 games remaining, while the Canucks have 13, but it's a brutal schedule down the stretch, plus they end up playing games vs Calgary which are likely to be meaningless in the final 3 or so. I have expected that they get around 13 points of the possible 38 when they returned. They have 6 so far with 26 more possible. Still think they end up in the 7-10 spot.

I think a trade down from their draft spot is something they should consider. But, it's draft that will have varying lists. I think Wallstedt is a guy that teams could move up for given how odd this season has been. I think if the Canucks get a top 2 pick via the lottery, they may have the option to trade down with Columbus who should be eying a C to replace PLD, which Beniers would be for them. CBS has no 2nd, but have the Tor and TB's 1st round pick.

Canucks really need to consider moving Miller in the off-season. 28, with 2 years left on his deal. How many good years will he have at age 30 onwards? And he will want term of 6 years or more. If they can get a Mantha type return, they should consider moving him.

You think they would sign Pearson then trade Miller? I believe Horvat a year and a half younger. There is plenty of time to trade him for futures. Why wreck next year by doing it now?

I've said this before but the Miller trade can be saved for next offseason and TDL. I don't think barring injury or awful performance his value is going to change much

Let’s face it, jt miller is gonna bounce as a ufa in 2 more seasons. I am opened to drafting a forward or dman. I value dmans a lot more but I am ok with a forward too.

I dont think that is set in stone but if he doesnt see progression next year I think the writting is on the wall and based on his production the past two years he's going to get 7-8 Mill. I think we would be better off shopping him next off season for a couple young NHL pieces or maybe a 2023 1st round pick (Mickov and Bedard draft) which looks like its going to be an awesome draft

Even if he is willing to come back, I don't think we should resign him if it takes 7-8m with term. He will be 30 at the beginning of the contract. Pettersson, Hughes, and Boeser will be on more expensive contracts. Horvat will also need a new contract.

Might get the best return if we trade him this off season.

In a flat cap environment, his caphit is pretty reasonable and could be turned into an even more attractive asset if we include a bit of retention. I think a lot of prospective contenders would want two full playoff runs with JT Miller at say, $4.25MM

Ship him off in the off-season you might get a high end prospect and 1st round and 2nd.

There is no freaking way we can improve next year, we don’t have the cap or the prospects.

Ideally a new GM comes in and ships out Schmidt, Miller and Horvat and just commence with a 2nd rebuild with EP, Boeser, Hoglander and Hughes as foundational pieces.

Reality: cap space and picks are going to vanish.

Somebody reminded me in another thread about OEL and we were minutes away from not having this pick and having someone pick in the top 10 with our pick.

got to look at the bright side and having draft excitement again.

Horvat is here to stay. You dont trade your Caption. The problem with trading Schmidt is who takes his minute? Hughes has shown he cant handle big minutes right now. Myers is Meh. Juolevi isnt ready to play 20+ minutes a night, and we dont know anything about Rathbone. Im all for shopping Miller though as he has the most value and we have a ton of wingers who are making there way through the system

More like anyone outside of Petey, Hughes, Demko, Ratbone, Pod, Hog should be traded if we can get picks. It will take like 3-4 years to fill out the roster but that’s miles better than Benning never ending 2 year plan

Horvat will be 30 when this team is ready to compete and the way he plays leads one to believe durability will be an issue once this team is remotely competitive.

This franchise either needs to see massive gains from the next 2 drafts or hope to hell that guys like fringe guys like Woo, Juolevi, Rathbone, and Lind somehow take massive strides in their development.

This team needs a top pairing dman, another top 4 dman, 1 more legit top 6 winger and an entire third line. They are f***ed up right against the cap and can't do shit to fix all this.

This team will be in a 2nd rebuild. I would rather endure it now than in 4-5 seasons from now.

If we trade Horvat and Miller, we should be able to get 2 sure fire prospects back and 2 1st rounders. If we don’t f*** that up then you can imagine in 4 years, we would have 2-4 players in the right age range instead of having 2 guys on their decline.
