Svechkov sounds like a player you take in the 20s. To me, he sounds like Philip Danault as a best case scenario. Also, you have to wait for him because he's a Ruskie.
He's 17 on my board, so yeah I'd probably be taking a harder look at him around 15.

Since we're 11, I think we can grab a Lysell or Wallstedt.

The Russian factor is irrelevant because whoever you grab at #11 won't be in the league for at least 2 years anyway.

The problem with trading for Jones and or signing Hamilton is that in all likelihood, it’d significantly impact if not eliminate any chance of contending for a too 3 pick next season. I’m hoping we can snag one of the top two netminders or Raty with this year’s pick and retain our first next year.
If we weren’t contending for a top 3 pick the last two years, why would you think we will next year (even without Seth of Hamilton).

I mean, if we came out of this off-season with Hamilton and Jones and the cost was salary, Boqvist, and our 1st…I’d be ecstatic.
So, the idea floated here is to have both Jones and Hamilton, two RHD, making first pair money, and one plays on the second pair? Great idea, stellar slot allocation.

They were I believe 4th or 5th last in the NHL last year in terms of xGF% and they were dead last this year. They did well in the standings considering the chances they surrender, but this team isn't good and could easily be a bottom-3 team next year, as currently constructed. It's going to be real rough if Kane starts a decline, which was maybe hinted at in the back half of this past season. A nagging injury for a soon-to-be 33-year-old player isn't a great sign.

Kane finished top 5 in scoring as a 32 year old. One point behind Marner. I’m sure he’ll be just fine. Dach coming back and hopefully Toews not being too far behind him is only going to help Kane as well.

Says he hears Chicago connected to Coronato the most if we go forward. Would love to get Wally!

sounds like the Hawks potentially view Wallstedt as likely BPA in that tier of players that could be there at 11 and if he falls they take him and if he doesn't then they go Coronato...

Wonder who the eight Kelley expects to be gone at the top. Six that seem certain are Power, Eklund, Beniers, Guenther, Hughes and Johnson. That leaves only two of the following likely candidates of Clarke, Edvisson and McTavish.

Also Mark tips off that he's quite high on Sean Behrens.

I haven't personally scouted Behrens because I didn't have the time, but that could be someone they look at in the 2nd round. He's also going to Denver which the Hawks have a good relationship with.

If there's a bit of a shakeup, I wonder if Stan tries to trade up to #9? Would you take on Loui Eriksson and/or Holtby to swap picks?

not sure if there is much to read into it but Kelley talking about Reichel and his future makes it sound like he's not on the table in a potential deal for Seth Jones...

Good. I love all the reports I’ve read about Reichel since we drafted him. I’m really excited for him. I’m really hoping his skating ends up being a big game changer and in our favor.

Keep in mind that a lot of what scouts say before the draft is done for tactical reasons. ;)

Kelley also said that Byram reminded him of Paul Coffey iirc and they ended up taking Dach, so there is always some posturing going on to get teams to trade up or take certain players ahead of them...but that said they do sometimes show their hand, Beaudin was a player they 'liked' and it was reported on before the draft and they selected him...they might be really high on Wallstedt but also not mind if both goalies go top 10 knowing that it will move some players down the board that they have a bigger organizational need for having just selected a goalie pretty high last year
