Is the PDF version worth getting in your opinion or should I hold out for the hard copy?

I have never gotten the hard copy version. I like the pdf version because I've been able to have one on my desktop and one on my laptop so if I have a few spare minutes at work I can do some reading. But if you're into having a bookshelf full of hockey related reading material I guess I could see wanting the hardcover version - but it is more expensive (Amazon gets their bit of vig) and it comes out later than the pdf version by a few days.

Can’t go wrong with Blackbook. Stacked with details. They do a great job.
Redline too. Woodlief isn’t the most popular choice but looking back at past guides they have a very strong track record.
