Acknowledged but I still think that Deni will be the better player with a significant margin.
Possibly, both seem to be play drivers who like the puck on their stick.
Do you see Denisenko paired with Barkov or Lundell if he stays long term?
Agreed. Albeit a very small sample size, I thought Deni showed had some flashes. He needs opportunity / quality ice time to really allow his full potential to be seen.
Also no idea what $/term Garland will command, and how that could possibly impact the group / CAP going forward. If they had not just resigned Duke, I'd be all for him on board.
Remember, next year, assuming a season similar to this past year; Swaggy will need to be paid. Also, Tipp's and Hepo's ELC's will expire requiring new deals, if their performance dictates.
And that's not even mentioning Barkov.
Rumors of 3-4 years x $4 to 5 million. Which may be the same for Swaggy in a year.
We have nearly $34 million in projected cap space for 2022-23 right now:
$30 mil once Bennett signs.
$25 mil with Garland added
Barkov hopefully takes a small discount, $10.5 million per.
Should leave $14 mil for Swaggy, Tipp and Hepo.
Year after that though, Huberdeau, Weegar, Knight and Deni are all due new deals.
Hornqvist + Gudas gone = $7.8 mil in cap, which is almost all of Huberdeau's new deal or most of Weegar's + Knight and Deni's bridges.
We can take a 1-2 year shot here but still be smart about it if we have a lot of depth deals ending in the next 2 years.
