Trading Deni for Garland would be a huge mistake. I do not see the top end skill in Garland, regardless of his point totals, which would allow trading Deni plus more for him.

Oh my God…

You really ARE impatient ! :D

It's time for us to be aggressive and go for it with Barky, Huby and Ekblad are still in their primes no?
We can mortgage some future to push us into the 2nd round or beyond.

What moves you got in mind?

Am I the only one who thinks that Deni may have more potential than Tipp?

Very valid question, one that could be created in a thread : Tipp vs Deni - who's got the higher ceiling and who has better chance of hitting it.

Huge mistake? Garland is what you likely hope Deni will be in 2 years.
Garland was on a 65pt pace this year playing with Schmaltz and Keller.
I think Verhaeghe and Barkov are way better than those two above.

Agreed. Albeit a very small sample size, I thought Deni showed had some flashes. He needs opportunity / quality ice time to really allow his full potential to be seen.

Also no idea what $/term Garland will command, and how that could possibly impact the group / CAP going forward. If they had not just resigned Duke, I'd be all for him on board.

Remember, next year, assuming a season similar to this past year; Swaggy will need to be paid. Also, Tipp's and Hepo's ELC's will expire requiring new deals, if their performance dictates.

And that's not even mentioning Barkov.

I wouldnt give up 24th, 56th, and Koly for a guy who's had a lot of injury problems.

Off-set the years of the picks, 2nd in 2023 then.
Recently he has missed a fair amount of games but he's still just 30 in September, has a ton of playoff experience and logs 22 mins a game.
Plays nearly 3 mins of PK a game for PIT, we need help there.

We took Hornqvist here, full of injuries albeit in a different type move.
Acciari is full of injuries, there's a reason you need these type of guys, willing to sacrifice the body.
Horny could convince him to come if PIT starts to re-tool on the fly.

One difference is cap and money. With Bob's contract, trying to re-sign Barkov and possibly Huberdeau, ELCs and early bridge contracts are valuable, especially since it sounds like the cap freeze will last a while.
I'm not saying we can't let go of any of our young guys, but at the same time, I'd be wary of "handing out prospects like candy" because we'll need those cheap contracts if we want to be competitive beyond a really short window.
