Trading Deni for Garland would be a huge mistake. I do not see the top end skill in Garland, regardless of his point totals, which would allow trading Deni plus more for him.
Garland was on a 65pt pace this year playing with Schmaltz and Keller.

I wouldnt give up 24th, 56th, and Koly for a guy who's had a lot of injury problems.
One difference is cap and money. With Bob's contract, trying to re-sign Barkov and possibly Huberdeau, ELCs and early bridge contracts are valuable, especially since it sounds like the cap freeze will last a while.Huge mistake? Garland is what you likely hope Deni will be in 2 years.

I think Verhaeghe and Barkov are way better than those two above.

I'm not saying we can't let go of any of our young guys, but at the same time, I'd be wary of "handing out prospects like candy" because we'll need those cheap contracts if we want to be competitive beyond a really short window.
