The lesser teams seem to have one really good game in them.

Let's hope Slovakia has another good game in the quarters.

if you can watch the Finns and imagine them in maple leaf uniforms you can’t tell the difference.
That game tomorrow is going to be one hell of a game.

Poor Finns have to play back to back.

Easy win for Team Canada
I don’t think it’s going to be easy to beat the Finns. They are going to bring a hard to play against game. If our guys start thinking it’s going to be easy, and aren’t will to sacrifice their bodies to make plays, we could easily come out on the wrong end of the score. This is a very good Finn team.

Quinn has been awesome on the forecheck/backcheck. Really like his game away from the puck. Newhook has been great on zone entry as well

I wouldn’t think for one second that anyone on team Canada is expecting an easy game.
A very good Finn team. You Bet it is.

Being in this pool has put a real damper on this tournament for me. It could also set up for a really tough QF matchup even if we beat the Finns tomorrow.

Neither Swedes or Russians scare me. Interested to see how we compare to fins. Americans are very strong.
Edit: that was a really nice passing by Russia.

Meh. Whether Canada is in the tough group or not...there is a tough group to enjoy the games from. I get to watch the Canada games and then sit back and watch Sweden,USA and Russia battle it out as a neutral. That is a pretty good time to me. Also if Canada wins tomorrow they get the Czechs. That is not a really tough QF matchup.

It’ll be nice to see who really steps up for Canada tomorrow. It’s nice that Cozens, Byfield, Levi and a few others have stood out, but it doesn’t mean much to me. I need to see it against a good team like Finland/Russia/USA/Sweden. That’s where we really see who came to play.

I hope to see some players get some real chemistry going tomorrow (or today i guess) The forwards have not looked like they had any real chemistry, so far its just a collection of really good players. I think the good plays have mostly been due to every forward having a high iq and having a lot of skill. Coach tourigny better find some good lines or atleast good forward duos he can ride through the medal round. I still think this team can win by shutting the other top teams down, but man this team should be able to score a lot.

I also hope tomasino, Mercer and pelletier get rewarded. If guys can't produce on this stage they should not be gifted minutes against countries like Finland. Give those minutes to players who are scoring.

Very true, but the roster is filled with potential guys to step up and be the clutch players. It could be win by comity with the team playing well defensively and solid games by Levi. Lots will have to fall in place especially the special teams executing is critical. The fun begins with Finland today and the start of Canada playing teams that can beat them if they are having a bad game.

As a Canadian I almost hope Canada loses versus Finland.

Too many easy games, too many blowouts, even considering COVID delays and lack of game time for many NA players this year.
They could use a reality check and honestly seem to do better (AKA win gold) many times they experience a loss in the round robin. Galvanizes the team for the future and wakes them up, makes them realize they're not invincible and need to play the team structure as well as rely on their individual ability.

That being said, this year's WJC crew seem to be a step above with no question marks up and down the roster. They don't "need" the wakeup call as other Canadian teams have needed in the past but it still may help them. As for "seeding" and "future opponent" concerns, well you always have to play and beat the best in any given round to be the best so I personally don't care who Canada sees in the medal rounds as long as they win.

Also, feel free to disagree but the overall quality in the other teams this year seems to be a bit below their usual standards but maybe that's just me + limited viewing.
