The hits just keep coming. Now RT18 expected to miss tomorrow with a lingering injury (day-to-day). Blues might be down to 17 skaters tomorrow night.

The only glimmer of hope I have from that scenario is that they must expect Perron to be back soon if they're not going to put him on LTIR retro to the day after his last game played.

And Thomas’ monthly injury has hit. He made it to December this time.

This is ridiculous the amount of guys that we’re missing now. And we are in deep shit for tomorrow’s game.

If my math is right, then 12/19/21 would be his first game eligible if we placed him on LTIR. I'm not sure that they would put him on LTIR even if they know he is going to miss at least the next week.

So what exactly happens if the Blues wake up and two more players have covid? Do the Blues play with 14 skaters? The Covid Protocol rules are absolute garbage.

The league postponed games for the Sens and Isles after they hit 10 players on protocol.

I don't think they'd do that for us unless we had a covid outbreak.

Given that Thomas, Perron, Kostin and Neal are injured. Binnington has Covid, but that's it to my knowledge?

Faulk is on the list to, but I haven’t seen if he actually has it or was just a close contact

Binnington, Bozak and Faulk all have it.

Okay, that's 3/10 before the league would deem it necessary to shutdown the Blues to contain things.

The injuries won't force the league to suspend play. Colorado didn't even get that benefit this season when they were decimated by injury and covid.

We're a positive test away from being unable to meet the NHL's minimum roster requirement. You have to have at least 20 players on the roster (goalies included). Capfriendly still shows Faulk and Bozak on the roster, but this is incorrect as each is in COVID protocol. We are at a 20 man roster right now unless Faulk and/or Bozak had a false positive and is actually going to be eligible to play tonight. Another positive COVID test puts us below that minimum and the 3* options available to the league would be

1: Allow us a cap exemption to call someone up
2: Postpone games
3: Force us to forfeit games

The NHL has 100% refused to set a number of positive tests required to postpone games. Both Bill Daly and Gary Bettman have been directly asked how many positive tests would be required and have declined to give a number. They have instead said that each situation is judged on its own and they are going to let doctors lead the decision-making process. Unless the NHL believes that we are screwing around with injury reporting on Perron/Thomas, then we are a hell of a lot closer to requiring a league exemption/postponement than a simple "only 3 positive" analysis suggests.

* I guess theoretically the league has a 4th option of letting our team take the ice with an illegal roster and providing the NHLPA with an open and shut player safety grievance.

Now the issue comes in, when Binnington is healthy and Lindgren/Gillies are pushed back down, what happens?

No way at this point are they hitting the ECHL, does Hofer sit around and watch them play or does he end up playing full time ECHL? That’s also quite detrimental to Ellis either way.

What a mess

You can potentially lend gillies to another AHL team. Or he can backup in echl if necessary. Needs of parent club come first and prospect development 2nd. Where career minor leaguers play is of no consequence.

Why do you think our #3 goalie (if not for cap complications) would go to the ECHL? There are a few options to handle Gillies when this is all sorted out. He can't just force his way onto Springfield and force Hofer out.

Gillies signed a ECHL-deal at the start of the season with the Maine Mariners. Wouldn't surprise me if we send him there as soon as Binner and Husso are back.

NHL: Binnington, Husso
AHL: Hofer, Lindgren
ECHL: Ellis (Worcester), Gillies (Maine)

Hofer is first call-up for the NHL (if allowed by cap), Ellis for the AHL.

Gillies is here to get an NHL pay check for a week while we deal with a full-blown emergency situation in goal. He is the definition of a short-term acquisition unless he manages to outshine Lindgren during that week. We have zero contractual obligation to send him to our AHL affiliate once this emergency is resolved and there is essentially no chance that Hofer's playing time in the Springfield will be impacted. We are 100% within our rights as a team to put him on waivers, watch him clear and then tell him, "we don't have a place for you to play. You are welcome to find a team who wants you or you can just sit at home and collect your AHL salary."

I'm happy for the guy. He's going to make as much this week as he probably made so far this season. And I'd wager that his AHL salary on this deal is a raise from what he was making as well. This has been a financial boon for him, but I'd be stunned if he is under the impression that this agreement is anything more than being hired as a short-term mercenary.

The Blues should just sign Hull and MacInnis to PTO contracts let em sit on the Bench and give em a few shift to make the crowd happy! The WC jersey sales alone will make it worth it.

For the record I have no idea if this is allowed lol.
