Trading Knies is a complete non-starter for me.

Absolutely dying to see this kid finally give us a top 6 power forward that we've really never had in recent memory.

I never considered JVR a power forward, as he had the size but never used it, other than to stand in front of the net from time to time.

Knies looks like the total package and should be amazing on Matthews wing, giving Tavares Bunting to play with.

Really pumped to see this kid up with the big club, and will be absolutely livid if he's moved in a trade. We've got nothing like him, neither in our lineup nor in our prospects pipeline.

There’s no way Knies is being traded. He’s everything the organization has wanted for years. Plus you factor in the Arizona connection with Matthews, you get years of them training together in Arizona and developing together. I just can’t see it happening. Also from a financial standpoint we need young guys on ELC’s moving forward. I’d expect Knies and Abruzzese to get NHL games this year and next

Doesn't it mean Knies can't return to college if we sign him?

He's the closest thing the team has to an untouchable prospect so I'm glad he didn't get traded for a guy like Hagel.

With that said, don't be surprised if he ends up with another NCAA season despite talk about a callup. He's got a bit more development ahead of him.

yes if he turns pro then he can only play in the NHL or AHL, which wouldn’t be the worst thing for him. Physically he’s ready for the AHL, his scoring ability may take a bit of time to transfer over but he skates so well. I don’t know how he was not a first round pick this year. This is not being a Leafs homer, but his skill set and size combination is so rare

He wasn't drafted in his D1, he's just an October birthday.

Should be fun to see if Him/Abruzzese/Holmberg can come over an make an immediate impact at the NHL
Yeah I meant he was in his D+1, not that he was drafted there

Can someone tell me what's so good about Knies? From the comments on various threads, it sounds like he's a cross between Bunting and Matthews lol.

He'll be ready for games this season down the stretch. Whether that's the right move for his development or not is a different convo.

The ideal plan would be to give him a cup of coffee with the Leafs after the Gophers' run, then AHL next season, then regular NHL minutes.

But i'm betting Keefe will have a very hard time keeping this guy off the roster. This is a playoff team that's incredibly starved for a fiery young PWF and you're handed one with a better skillset than Bunting who can be a fit on any line? Way too appealing for any coach to pass up. Only question is how his defensive play translates and how much Keefe can trust him in defensive situations. This kid is special.

Man, the hype train is once again out of control.

That's not me saying Knies isn't a promising prospect, but let's pump the breaks a little.

Management has been really bad about their testing out their "new toys." The way Robertson was called up to the Bubble roster. Then called up so quickly after coming back from his broken leg, given limited minutes on the 4th line. Then yo yo'ed onto the second line. Then nothing again.

I'mreally curious to see what Knies has but I'm not sure these fast track impatient promotional tracks and then really limited ice time with the Leafs is a great strategy. Not a lot of teams do this with their second round level prospects.
