Is the excitement about his points, or about his game and style?
Didn't the Leafs have a NCAA ROY a few years back who amounted to nothing?
IMO Leafs need isn't points related.

Both. But it's his playing style that is what is exciting. Stylistically he brings an element that the Leafs top 6/9 has been lacking especially on the wing. A classic power forward who actually has some above average puck skills so he's not just relying on his size to make things happen. And his hockey IQ ect.

Eh, I think exactly what they need is production from a guy projected as a top-6 F.

The NCAA Freshman of the year was Abruzzese, and he may be on the Leafs as soon as his season ends.

Abruzzese was not the NCAA Freshman of the year FYI.

It kind of sounds like they have 3 right now who are impressing in college.

Jerry D' was a bit further away than I thought, but times is relative and so years move along faster each year.
Oh that's right....I forgot the hype train on him. Then he was a middling OHL player. lol

It was ECAC: In his single season in the NCAA, won the ECAC Rookie of the Year award and also was named to the ECAC Rookie Team.[

Jerry D'Amigo.

Yeah that’s a bit different then the NCAA rookie of the year. It’s just the are the rookie of the year for their conference.

This guy will turn heads when he gets his few games after his season is done.

Plays a power game that we need from our depth and ends cycles, great in transition, fine defensively and I'd take his physicality/motor over whatever the hell Ritchie was doing this year. Seriously. Could very well force himself into the lineup in pl'offs.

Also reminds me of AM34 so often with his use of stick/body to gain any leverage against opponents, and is also similarly like a puck magnet. Knies' puck skills are obviously more raw, albeit still elite for his age and size. If he hounds pucks, plays physical and brings some of that first-round skill we've seen he can provide a lot of energy for us.

Keeping him was the best move Dubas made this trade deadline.

Fair for Chicago to ask for him, and better for Dubas having told them to GTFo.
I'd bet it was one of the easiest to make haha. We all know that Knies might not pan out, but we'd have been fools to trade him now before we have the chance to really see what we have here. He's had a meteoric rise this year and the ceiling is pretty damn high for someone with the tools he's got. You pay value for rentals, but you don't risk Forsberg for Erat.

Admins, when do I get the love button back, cause this post is an all time beauty. Sorry brother, all I can do, is give you an internet pat on the back.

Don't want to get ahead of myself but seems like he will force Keefe's hand to play him.
Also don't be surprised if we sign Koster too. Dubas on Kyper's show said something like "we have 2 guys on Minnesota that we will let them focus on playing their next game".
I think it's unlikely but that quote suggests there is a chance. I think Knies and Abruzzese are pretty much locks to sign.

Engvall Kampf Spezza

Not saying it should stay like this but definitely worth a shot
Spezza, why? Why are you breaking up Engvall-Kampf-Mikheyev? Nylander and Tavares don't work together.

The Leafs only really have 3 contract spots for the season. Knies and Abruzzese will be 2 for sure.

Koster can still be added, but if they are trying to chase Meyers like half the league, and who knows how it goes with Niemela and other EU prospects, they might need to leave that spot open in that case to try out another top prospect/player. Koster might just be added to the Marlies on an ATO for the season.
