I've always been bothered that the official Comets website is Not Secure.

I thought the lack of detail from the broadcast team/social media at the beginning of the season, like not providing lineups or away highlights, was not up to par with what Rob Lippolis was doing with Binghamton pretty much on his own (at least on the airwaves). Utica has Jason Shaya for AHLTV and away game radio, Michael Lehr for home radio, Nick Ahles for intermissions, pre- and postgame, and Comets Insider. Shaya usually has someone do color with him for the home games. Rainman I guess retired or moved on from doing Comets content. Not one of them mentioned the clinching of the Eastern Conference best record until the next broadcast. Shaya and Lehr always seem to want the game to be over. They complain when there are too many icings, penalties, or other stoppages. Always seems like they'd rather be doing something else. Lehr is young and has improved over the season. I prefer him to Shaya.

Stillman hasn't been added to the AHL Transactions page or the AHL roster on the AHL official website either.
I too noticed the absence of Stillman, but the Devils announced it didn't they? NJ has announced it on Twitter. The Comets have also announced it. Sometimes AHL.com has been late to list things. I don't think this one is going to be a case of jumping to conclusions.

I have not enjoyed Shaya at all, but he is way better than the jamoke they had last year who spent more time watching and relaying his sightings of what was going on in the stands. He would spend minutes going over the stats and histories of an individual opponent player while the game was going on! He didn't tell you when lines changed and who the new shift members were. He was flat out the worst play by play guy I have ever heard.

Brendan Burke was the Comets announcer from 2013-14 through 2015-16 and he was one of the best ever. MSG and the NY Islanders agreed as they poached him for the TV play by play for the Isles at the start of the 2016-17 season. He has been used in the playoffs by NBC and now TNT's NHL coverage and I expect to hear lots from him this playoff season.

I feel really good for him. I had many conversations with him while he was in Utica. It was always his goal/dream to make it to the big time. He put in a lot years doing minor league and college sports to get there and his dream has come true. Every time I hear his voice I am taken back to the Utica Aud on weekday mornings at Comets practices, walks to our cars in the parking lot, post game in the Horton Room where he would do his post game show and my son would often adjust Brendan's speakers to address feedback. Burkie just couldn't seem to get that facet of his job under control, LOL. We would all laugh about it when he was packing things up afterwards.

I got a lot of his thoughts on the players at different levels who were super stars at different levels and flops when moving to the next level. He would shake his head at the fans who couldn't accept that this guy or that guy just were not good enough. He never told them that, but he was correct never the less. He told me his thoughts on the Vancouver draft selections and who would not become Canucks and even those who would never even be Comets and he was dead on with every single one of them.

the
DeLeo ENG seals it.

Chase De Leo (21)
Tyce Thompson (9)

4-2

Final SOG 41-26 Providence.

21-7 Bruins in the third.

Three Stars:

1. UTI - C. De Leo
2. UTI - P. Grasso
3. PRO - S. Jandric

I know Grasso got his 1st AHL goal and Chase got 2 even if 1 was an ENG, but after laying an egg last night in Rochester surrendering 4 goals on 13 SOG and yanked after 16 minutes, stopping 39 of 41 while his own guys managed only 26, IMO, deserved the #1 Star of the Game.

Great response to a very bad night. Good ones have bad games, but they forget them as soon as they are done and go back to work doing what they have accomplished to be called "good". Daws hasn't played enough to have earned that title, but games like this one will help propel him to that level if he can do it consistently.

Home arena usually picks the three stars. I haven't listened to the Comets postgame since I got the AHLTV package, but they pick Comets players regardless of the results.

Providence dressed 13 PTO's last night. I don't know how many tonight. Comets also had six or seven regulars out. Greer was resting but I hope he didn't hurt himself before he got ejected last night.

Ten days for Gauthier, Mitens (and Laberge and maybe Van Whye?) to heal while Crotchester and Smelleviile duke it out. Thompson could probably use more time too.

I wasn't saying the Bruins people should have named Daws. I was just saying that from my standpoint I gave him the #1 star in Bad Goalie land. LOL

Gauthier was to start skating Monday. Gauthier has 10 days to get ready.

I haven't heard a thing as to the Laberge injury.

If the Comets end up needing VanWhye in a 5-game series they will have been physically beaten up and moving on would be doubtful anyways.

Uninformed Shaya said Greer and Russo were being rested. Maybe yes and maybe no.

F**k the AHL hierarchy! The Comets management team starting particularly with Esche should hang a banner as the AHL Eastern Conference Champions. They won it and a banner should be there for history to reflect it.

The AHL changed the rules and screwed over 2 teams that should have won the awards for their respective Conferences, Western and Eastern. They have been awarding the Conference Champions those trophies for decades and now because they changed the rules allowing teams to play less games than others in the same Division and Conference and then punished the winners.

Interesting since they didn't punish the Pacific when they were playing less games than the other 3 divisions due to "travel expenses".

I guess in 2013-14 Utica flying to Abbotsford 3 times for back to backs as well as trips to Oklahoma City, Texas (2x), San Antonio (2x), Chicago, Iowa, Milwaukee, Rockford, as a member of the Western Conference was okay. In 2014-15 their playoff opponents were Chicago, Oklahoma City, and Grand Rapids before finally playing a team located in the east, Manchester affiliated with the LA Kings!

A little consistency please.

Sabres goalie prospect Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will miss the Rochester Americans’ AHL North Division Calder Cup Playoff play-in series after suffering a lower-body injury in Friday’s season finale.

“It’s not short-term,” Appert told reporters Sunday of Luukkonen’s injury. “It’s going to be minimum of a few weeks or so.”

Luukkonen, 23, left Friday’s 8-1 win over Utica Comets in the first period and was replaced by Aaron Dell. That victory coupled with the Toronto Marlies’ 5-2 loss on Saturday to the Belleville Senators clinched the Amerks the AHL’s final playoff spot.

Dell, 32, will likely handle the goaltending duties in the best-of-three series against Belleville, which begins Wednesday in Rochester.

Luukkonen recently found a groove following a rough stretch, and the Sabres would love for him to experience his first playoff action as a pro.

The Amerks also have goalie Corbin Kaczperski, who played four games for the Syracuse Crunch this season, on the roster. They could also recall goalie Michael Houser, who backed up for the Sabres in Friday’s season finale, from the Cincinnati Cyclones. Right now, the Cyclones are participating in the ECHL playoffs.

---

Samuelsson said he’s dealing with an ankle/foot injury and doesn’t know if he can play Wednesday.
