If we don't get at least one player of that caliber, preferably a Forward, I'm going to be PISSSED.Some of you guys are in for a rude awakening if you think we are getting Fiala AND Chychrun.... We won't get either.

Same but I'm not expecting a player like that. They have to agree to come here or we have to outbid every other team. We'll see but I'm not holding my breath. If we don't get at least one player of that caliber, preferably a Forward, I'm going to be PISSSED.
I feel like we can outbid pretty much any team in the league right now comfortablySame but I'm not expecting a player like that. They have to agree to come here or we have to outbid every other team. We'll see but I'm not holding my breath.
I agree, I just listed chychrun as more or less filler cause idk what other options are available.I still think Fiala is the move to make.
Chychrun is less appealing since the control for him would not be as long and he will cost significantly more to acquire.
What are new jerseys needs outside of goalie.d picI’m sure I’m late to this discussion, but what are the thoughts around a deal involving Gibson and Blackwood? What else would the Ducks be looking for? Who else is available?
It seems like it could work for both sides, although it does come with some serious risks.
The Ducks have Stolarz and Dostal. They don’t necessarily need a goalie in a Gibson trade. If Blackwood is part of the deal, it would have to include a couple nice pieces going to Anaheim.I’m sure I’m late to this discussion, but what are the thoughts around a deal involving Gibson and Blackwood? Devils main need is goaltending. After that, it’s probably revamping the forward group with a combination of size/skill that can compliment Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, Mercer, and eventually Holtz. Then there’s minor needs like depth defenders, but for the most part, the top six forwards and top four defenders are set in place. After that, there’s a lot of AHL guys on the bubble that should be pushing for spots next year and the following year. What are new jerseys needs outside of goalie.
I suggested
Gibson + ducks 1st(assuming its lower than devils)
for
Blackwood + new jersey 1st(top 3 protected) + random asset(2nd-4th round pick)
Which had mixed reactions, granted i understand from jersey perspective not wanting to give up potential top 5 pick. right now the picks are 6 and 10... so not a lot of difference... and i think your gettings similar caliber player at those spots.
Devils could always deal Blackwood elsewhere with a separate deal to acquire Gibson. They have the assets for it.The Ducks have Stolarz and Dostal. Were equally as weak on RHD... a name that has been tossed around as potentially available going forward is Comtois... hes struggled a bit this year, might be a good option for change of scenery forward for New jersey, to help balance out values a bit.Devils main need is goaltending. A trade back scenario could make sense. Devils don’t need any more high-end forward prospects which this draft is heavy on. I could see them being ok with trading back if they can grab one of the Slovak RDs, which is the organizations biggest weakness long-term.
Aside from that, Johnsson, Zacha, Tatar, Boqvist, and Kuokkanen are all likely available to switch up the forward group. I could see the Devils parting with Smith for a significant upgrade at forward or in goal if it comes to that too.
I don’t think that deal is far off. I could see the Devils looking for a forward swap too to maybe make up some value between Gibson/Blackwood.
Kadri is going to be 32 at start of next year... you saw the mental breakdown people were having over Lindholms age...We are signing kadri at 6 years.. Bank on it.. 8mil per year or so.. Gottta over pay to offset the taxes in CA
There is plenty of options to grab impact forwards this offseason... lot of teams with cap issues and what not. Its more or less getting the right ones.Generally speaking I expect us to add two defense first d men. 1 each of LHD and RHD. No one near Lindholms value probably 2 2-4 mil ish level players. 1 to pair with Fowler and the other to pair with Drysdale/Shattenkirk using Vaks for the other pair with Benoit being number 7. Fowler Drysdale and Shattenkirk will provide the offense from the D. I imagine 1 of those is traded for and the other acquired in UFA. Leaving most of our assets to put towards a forward upgrade. Honestly, losing out on Dadynov hurt more than losing the second
Who are are the impact forwards outside of the obvious? I haven't done a deep dive but when I looked at UFA I wasn't encouraged much. Not sure which RFAs make sense. There is plenty of options to grab impact forwards this offseason... lot of teams with cap issues and what not. Its more or less getting the right ones.
As for defense its tough... fowler/drysdale are the only sure things... and to a lesser unfortunate extent shatt. You hope Benoit/Vaaks/Mahura etc can fill in a spot or 2... but we def need a guy like Manson on the RH side... and we need a top 4 LHD.... could be picked up in FA/Trade or could be someone in our system pans out better.
This seems about right to me. Our offense is on the verge of being decent even with half the roster being a wasteland, but when healthy but the defense is simply not NHL caliber. That plus the fact that adding an individual D man has greater impact than adding a forward, and I think you'll see a couple mid-career veterans brought in. I imagine they'll try to find a top-6 option for the forwards somewhere, too.Generally speaking I expect us to add two defense first d men. 1 each of LHD and RHD.
