Milano - Zegras - Terry
Too soft. I would rather have Jones there for grit than Milano. If we keep Milano there... switch Terry with Silv. Put Terry with Henrique.

My wish list forward line up…

Fiala - Zegras - Palat
DeBrusk - Henrique - Terry
McTavish - Lundy - Silf
Jones - Grant - Des/Carrick

Silf is the last forward on the entire roster I want with Zegras. I'd rather see Carrick line up at RW every single night there because Silf brings nothing offensively.

I like it, but I think the assets should be used to upgrade the D. Free agency has a lot more forward options than D

It’s not an impossible reach. DeBrusk wants out, and I just like his game and will compliment the Top 6 very well and is an upgrade over Milano or Comtois. Fiala is Fiala and would obviously improve scoring, and Palat is a good physical two way forward who is good defensively and can create space for Z.

Palat would only cost them cap, which they have plenty of, DeBrusk is easily affordable. The only costly one would be Fiala, but remember Buch cost a 2nd and Sammy Blais. So yeah. But I do agree have to really improve the D, and find those compliment pairings for Fowler and Drysdale. So may need those assets towards that.

I feel like something around

Debrusk for comtois + gets it done pretty comfortable

I think fiala likely cost Boston 1st + pastujov/perreault. Which I do pretty easily if he’ll sign 6-8 years

I’d prob aim at domi or marchament over palat

And prob take lucic from Calgary over des

Defense a little harder but gudbranson prob be a good starting point

I think 2 of the 3 forwards could be realistic. All 3 is a stretch. Probably have to go with Milano-Zegras-Fiala in that case.

We need a lot of help. Milano is not a good fit for us. We have way too many defensively inept forwards, and he has one point in the last 17 games. Comtois may get another chance, but he has been woeful. Not producing, not doing much defensively. Henrique can play LW but may have to play center. Jones is a 4th liner.

We could probably get Palat if he is fine with a shorter contract. Fiala I fear will end up not even being available. The Wild cap situation isn't quite as bad as it seems. They probably need to move somebody, but it doesn't have to be Fiala.

It actually is. They've only got 17 players under contract with 8m in space. The only way they can afford Fiala would be by moving Dumba. Those are pretty much their only choices.

We lost a top-2 Dman, a top-4 Dman, a streaky scoring top-6, and Des. That's all it took for the Ducks to go into a "deep dive" tank mode.

Verbeek has an age limit. So let's work with that.

McTavish will be on the NHL club next year and probably our 3C/2C. As for wingers, Verbeek might be looking for one-year deals as he's got Perreault, Tracey, and Elvenes developing as scoring wingers. We'll be looking for older mercenaries as stopgaps.

Our defense needs a massive upgrade. We currently only possess one top-4 defenseman on our roster in Fowler. That's it. Drysdale, Shatty, and Vaaks are all bottom pairing D's at the moment. Securing a top-2 D and another top-4D would help out tremdously, especially if Vaaks is on the third pairing.

Who can we trade for a couple of top-4 D? But I have a grave feeling that Verbeek thinks that Helleson can fill in as a top-4 D next season.

We'll get 2 players like Kubalik or Dylan Strome and call it an off season.

Jones has the hands of a 4th liner. That’s the last thing that should be put with the team‘s 2 best (won’t-shoot) passers.

I'm okay with Jones being on the line with Z-T only because he might be a great glue fit. He's big, physical, fast, and goes to the net. Z and T can play the two-man game where they're forced to shoot. Everyone remembers Teemu and Kariya, but casual fans have no idea who Rooch is. At least Jones can compete along the boards to win puck battles so we won't get hemmed in as often.

Well, I'd at least try it. Then that would mean Rico can help McTavish out.

Hmm. Dumba might indeed be the only alternative. To make moving someone like Foligno enough, Fiala would need to take a very team-friendly deal for a short term. With league minimum deals for the rest...it would still have to be under 7 million. Yikes. Yeah you're right, it's pretty much either Fiala or Dumba.

Rucchin was twice the player Jones will ever be and very good defensively. We might still see Jones on the top line, because we have no-one else.

This is true, but Zegras and Terry aren't on Teemu and Kariya levels either. Yet, both offensive pairs needed a heavy on their line. We have to find the glue for Zegras-Terry line and Jones is it. Well, we could put McTavish there, but I'd prefer we develop McTavish at center.

and I’d happily take either! but definitely prefer Fiala for the team’s needs up front, of course

Yes, we absolutely need more size and grit. I hope we can find more of it, because ideally Jones should play in the bottom six.

I don't see Terry and Zegras together long term. They both need the puck too much. If McTavish does become a top 6 center, I think they would make a great pair in the future:

xxx - Zegras - xxx
xxx - McTavish - Terry

I think Zegras needs a power forward. At minimum, he needs someone who can one-time the puck accurately and another forward who can actually play defense.

I agree.

McT will see Wing for the better part of next year, but eventually with Terry would be good.

Milano with Zegras and a powerforward would be good.
