game could be 2 or 3-0 if not for quick being quick

not an encouraging period

Kraken might end up being a team we just don't matchup well against. I don't think we've really had a convincing performance against them this year.

That last shift before the goal is an example of why Vilardi will never be anything in the league and can’t stay in the lineup for even a fringe playoff team decimated by injuries and lacking offensive skill. Just gets completely outmuscled for a 50/50 puck by a smaller but hungrier player in Beniers, then of course loses the foot race into the zone enabling Beniers to set up his line mate for a prime scoring chance. He skates like someone 6’8 and has the physicality of someone 5’8. Not a good combo.

I take back anything I ever said about getting rid of Kopitar. If this is what they look like without him theyd be screwed. As much as hes slowing down hes still a pros pro

Had the Kings “played the kids” this year we would be picking top 5 this year and next year.

A case can be made that in the long-term that might have been the right move (especially being awful next year). Many on this board were for that.

But just saying, anyone thinking these young players would have had this team anything but awful are kind of in denial. This team wasn’t getting good with this group, they either needed to add vets (which Blake did a great job doing) or they needed to add more high picks.

Except nobody was just saying play the kids. They were saying integrate the kids with qualified journeyman and vets. If they struggled, scale back the responsibility.

One period is not going to determine anything. Though if they were given bigger roles earlier, they certainly could have been more prepared for this game. We'll never know though.

Boy....The more I watch Byfield the more I get a little more concerned that he is NOT "The Guy" He gets pushed around and knocked down a ton and he just doesn't even get shots on net. He is young, but I start to open up to the concept of trading him away for the right elite top line guy.

This was the guy that was on Kingston w Robertson and looked far superior .. thats why scouting is so important

Vilardi is having a good 2nd period. They would have been a lottery team if they played the young guys like this but there would have been a lot of growth and more forwards emerging.
