They did, remember, they put him on the 3rd line.....

At what point do you cut the leg off a players and not allow him to play his way out of a slump? Because if you do that, you don't have that player anymore, he's pretty much dead to you....

Now you're asking the right questions.

Playing a guy over 20 minutes isn't the only way to get a guy out of a slump.

Adjust isn't in this dumbass' vocabulary. If he knew how to adjust he would have benched Brown a long time ago, he would have pulled Petersen when he was getting peppered, he would have called a timeout when his team was getting their asses whipped, he would have benched Iafallo, he would have given Byfield pp time, would have limit the vet usage on the pp, he would have managed Kopi's ice time so he didn't look like a f***ing zombie pun not intended so late in the season..f*** I can go on and on.

The only adjustments TM has made are those forced upon him by injury.

He is clearly an excellent setup/tactician coach, and arguably the worst bench coach/game day manager in the league.

Are you new? With a username like that I’m guessing no but… All it will result in is Kaliyev and Grundstrom getting less than 6 minutes of ice time.

This was sadly a f***ing excellent educated guess.

I want to laugh but when Grundstrom is putting up 30 points and a bunch of hits on some other Pacific team's bottom six next year it's gonna suck. Meanwhile, we'll probably re-sign DB or some shit.

All other things aside, I think that's why the frustration...this team is doing things in spite of the game day coaching. It's amazing that this walking dead team took a point tonight. But looking at the utilization, including in OT and SO is immensely frustrating.

Great experience for the kids, so I'm glad we're still in the thick of things, but this kind of coaching cannot continue next year. This year is house money at this point, I'm over it, it's clear everyone else sees what I'm seeing with the shit coaching at this point, nothing's going to change. Vets will get healthy and replace better kids in the lineup, we'll be a first round exit in 5 games due to the same repetitive problems all year. The macro-question now will be how does Blake address this in the offseason...because I think any younger coach looks at what Kaliyev and Grundstrom were doing last night and promotes them, at least evens out the ice time a bit instead of playing the 'top players' who were gassed and flailing 25 minutes and our productive players literally a quarter of that.

ESPECIALLY with a tougher team in Calgary on the menu tonight. Does Todd not have a calendar?

McDavid is soo damn good but man when did stiff arming become legal in the NHL?
On the dissalowed goal how was he not holding Durzi's stick? Practically through it.
He drapes himself all of over guys and when it doesn't work the edmonton crowd boos the refs. The Atlhetic should take a vote among refs and get a list of which venues have the most frustrating fans. As someone who used to live in edmonton and went to a lot of coiler games I think they have to be near the top. They rest on the Laurels of the 80s, a team that was only good because they were allowed to combine two teams into one (racers meet oilers)

f*** the oilers. I hope the kings are healthy in time for the playoffs and steam roll these turds. Although I know the narrative will be the refs f***ed over edmonton.

1. McDavid- Headlock, followed by trying to pull his helmet off...NOT A DAMN THING CALLED!
2.McDavid- OT opening faceoff, , grabs Moores stick, pulls it right out of his hand preventing a 2 on 1...NOT A DAMN THING CALLED!
3.OT, Kane reverse slashes Spences stick and it goes flying out of his hands, and leads to a scoring chance.

Just infuriating to see them put the whistles away like that.

I don't want Iafallo moved around the lineup. I want him scratched. It's like Brown before he got hurt.
No, he hasn't been nearly that useless. Brown was doing nothing, literally nothing. Iafallo is still making quality plays off of the puck, killing penalties, winning board battles, good stick in the neutral zone and forechecking reasonably well. Brown was doing none of that. He is done, there are no competitive juices flowing there anymore.

Iafallo is definitely in the worst moment of his career and could use a reduced role to remove him from situations in which the team must get offensive production, but despite the highly repetitious group-think here he is in no way near as useless as Brown.

no way should he be scratched

Did you see him last night? An absolute disaster at every part of the game INCLUDING DOING NOTHING to Mcdavid after the headlock/helmet pull at the end. He just skated away, in total defeat. There's your team toughness. Just pathetic! Kempe would've thrown his ass into the glass, then straight to the ice for pulling that shit. Brian Burke would've pulled him aside after the game and given him an earful for being so bad.

Just a dumb guys opinion.

AI should of been on the 4th line last night and not seen a second of OT. At no point during the game would I ever think that AI had more in the tank to contribute in OT. Brutal usage. So many other options including Kupari. IF he's nursing an injury and still thrown out there in OT...then I have a whole new set of doubts.
It's also my dumb opinion that maybe a different player deserves that A over AI. Again, lots of other options there.

Another point, Byfield and company would have absolutely been destroyed, by McDavid and Draisatl, I mean shit, Danault was, and Kopitar was,

McDavid was absolutely on his game last night.......not a player in the league, would have stopped him last night.

This is what the last change will do. You get the match ups and exploit them.

They couldnt have done much worse than Kopitars line. What was it three shifts in a row they got scored on in the second period? One goal was called back. Danault got beat a couple times but that line also wins some shift and puts the other team on their heels. Seems like LAs top line is just getting hemmed in their zone constantly to every teams top line. I think they were even out against Seattles bottom six the other night and couldnt win the shift.
If it was a one off you can look at it and say hey the Kings have a lot of rookies on defense and cant get it done. But its been every game for a while now and that top line and the coach need to have some serious conversations about their game.

One positive takeaway from this game is that Byfield and Kupari keep looking better and better. Would love to put Kempe with them.

Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Kempe - Byfield - Kupari
Kaliyev - Kopitar - Vilardi
Iafallo - Anderson-Dolan - Grundstrom

TMc doesn't like Lias or Grundstrom for whatever reason and will look for any reason (Brown and AA coming back) to send those guys to the press box or Ontario. For some reason, he didn't like Arty last night either. He should've been rewarding Arty and Grundstrom last night for helping get that point. Instead, he benched them. TMc's ice time management is right in line with the disaster that is Willie Desjardins. And I'll say it again, Kopi played the least amount of minutes as a King under Sutter and that was prime Kopitar. This current team isn't Sutter era deep, but it's certainly deeper than when Willie was coach.
Well I can tell you why Lias Andersson isn't playing, and that's because he sucks. Night in night out he skates around like a chicken with its head cut off, unable to make any positive contribution. I'll be absolutely shocked if he is on the roster opening night next season.

The primary reason why Grundstrom and Kaliyev didn't play much last night has to do with Lizotte being out, resulting in 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. With three centers, McClellan sent out the three usual lines for the most part, only occasionally mixing Grundstrom and Kaliyev in with Byfield. The Kings pretty much had three lines last night.

Lias just needs a chance to get in a groove. He can be a good player.
It wasnt a smart decision to have three lines last night so you can dress all of moverare, stetcher, edler. They all played well but all 3 arent a necessity.
Besides that they have kempe, kopitar, danault, moore, kupari, vilardi and byfield who all have experience at center. Besides the danault line nothing should be set in stone in situations like lizotte being injured.
