When everyone is ready the best players should play. Up front you probably won’t see Lias or Grundstrom sniff an optimal lineup and JAD and Frk are probably done playing meaningful games for the Kings barring major injuries, but beyond that who knows. Is this a breakthrough game for the third line or is it a flash in the pan? We have seen good games from QB before only to be followed by a return to sub replacement level play. So let’s see how he follows it up the next 2-3 games. (In fairness this was his best game as an NHL’er).

If everyone is back for the playoffs my guess is VA, AA, Lemieux are 100% back in and Lias, Grundstrom and probably Vilardi are out. Brown we will see, but Kupari is just noticeably better and provides speed and physicality that Vilardi doesn’t. I know it won’t be the case but Iafallo should not be a lock to be in the lineup with how he’s played for the past 2/3 of the season. Last night was another poor game for him when everyone else looked strong.

Brown needs to be a healthy scratch when he comes back. I'd rather watch the youth develop, growing pains included, than see that boat anchor constantly have pucks explode off his stick.

Disagree, thought AI looked pretty damn good last night compared to his last stretch of games....then again, the whole team looked like they were injected with something illegal. Who were those guys??

It's a crowd up front for sure. I'm really hoping this "Kid Line" develops some chemistry over the next few games. When Arvidsson and Lemieux return, you're looking at:

Iafallo-Kopitar-Kempe
Moore-Danault-Arvidsson
Kupari-Byfield-Vilardi
Lemieux-Lizotte-Kaliyev
Grundstrom/Andersson

Then add Brown and Athanasiou in the mix in a few weeks and it gets pretty complicated, but there are inevitably going to be injuries here and there. The Kings will be lucky to start the playoffs in full health. Blake was smart to create a very deep team, but it does create roster problems.

I do not believe you understand value of Vilard’si game.

Yes, he does not provide super speed, but he is so smart and skilled while helping Kupari and QB to do their staff.

In my opinion Vilardi already is > Lias, Grundstrom, AA and even VA

He is already improved on his skating and stamina and only will get better and better

You think Vilardi is a better player than Arvy?

I think it’s a bit much to say for 15-20 mostly games to give it time and then after one good one to proclaim it’s all solved on the third line.

The Kings need offense and will need to score goals vs Edmonton. My guess is their 2nd and 3rd best goal-scorers on a per-game basis will both be in the optimal lineup if they are healthy. If Vilardi and Byfield can string together a bunch of good games down the stretch they should be too, but we have to take a wait and see.

It's funny how nbc used to use the person behind the glass on just about every other play. ESPN barely uses theirs. I can only remember hearing Cohn a few times throughout the game. Melrose is still Melrose, " he's big, he's fast , he's tough..." same mantra he always uses.

all that was missing was him dropping a reference to his days of coaching Adirondack.

At the beginning of the season if someone told you the Kings would win a pivotal late season game 6-1 against a Preds team ahead of them in the Standings with their leading Defensemens TOI being Jordan Spence and Sean Durzi....

These kids are legit players and essentially have turned a catastrophic situation into what so far is Blakes finest hour as his tenure as GM. With Arvidson and Bjornfot back soon could be building some momentum and confidence for the home stretch. Kings D Corp just sick moving forward.

One thing Vilardi is great at is the outlet/breakout pass away from danger. He sees the ice better than most. He's a quarterback and he can hit those receivers in stride to get the puck out quickly on the counter. When you've got good skaters like QB, Kupari and even Spence, getting them the puck quickly in open ice is invaluable.

I agree that Kings D Corp just sick moving forward.

I also believe that Kings F Corp just sick moving forward.

In my opinion LA only needs to get a few elite goalie prospects and we could say Kings roster just sick moving forward.

I would say big NO to big name trades now.

And I say statements like that lead to missed opportunities,

You are saying and again, price is relative, but you wouldn't trade for a player like Matt Tkcachuk or De Brincat, or JT Miller etc....under any circumstance?

Yes, I wouldn't trade for a player like Matt Tkcachuk or De Brincat, or JT Miller because:

  • It would be very expensive value wise
  • Kings already have everything what they need (with exception of elite goalie prospects) with proper players development

What you are calling missed opportunities I am calling assets mismanagement

For sure . Speed is so overrated! You don't have to be fast to be successful , the league is full of guys who have average speed. Valardi has average speed, and can makes smart plays. That's all you need. There was a play in the 1st when he was behind the net and got QB the puck in the slot and he shot it wide. That's not a play you need speed for, it was a smart read and generated a scoring chance.

So you wouldn't trade....Turcotte and Fagemo and a first for De Brincat....? Why?

I already said price dependent, but this fascination of omg hold on to prospects....because one day...one day I tell you....one day they MIGHT BE AS GOOD AS THE PLAYER WE ARE GOING TO GET.....absolutely baffles me.....

Looks pretty good except the top line. Might need to switch AI and Kaliyev if AI continues to struggle.
The Byfield line's played well ever since they were put together. The production wasn't there but they were creating a few good chances every game and weren't hemmed in their zone defending a whole lot.
And seemingly everything came together last night and were the best forward line.
Vilardi looks much quicker than last year and Kupari looks faster and more confident than his last stint.
Hopefully they can build on that and if that line continues to play like this, I don't know how you break that up.

Who would want a 24 year old guy scoring at close to 50 goal pace the last 2 years at an outrageous cost like that. Have you seen how much grit and character Turcotte plays with?

Wow that is crazy. I think Vegas just doesn’t pay as much attention to hockey as they should, that and the back to back messes with their computer programs.

With the Kings lineup this should be like Kings +130. I hate to bet against (or for) the Kings, but this is tempting. Only time I ever bet Kings games was my greatest run of sports betting ever, taking Kings unders in 2011-2012. Vegas just refused to ever go below 5, lol.

I am glad I didn't
