I agree. I have no issue with re-signing Athanasiou. I wouldn't even mind if he was kept for depth reasons next year.

But when a line isn't working, you HAVE to be able to adjust.

It wasn't just re-signing him, it was for 2.7M, which makes him much more expensive than his competition on the roster.

When it's for a year or two, and you have the cap space/hopeful key players on ELCs, I still don't see it as much as a liability.

One thing that is likable about this team, which is key, is the variety of players stepping up. For a stretch, it's been very dependent on Danault and Lizotte's line. However, tonight, they have goals from Byfield and Kopitar's lines.
