The Kings are addicted to dumpster bin guys who put up shots but aren’t clutch shooters. It’s a hall mark of Blake’s tenure. Cammelleri, Kovalchuk, Frk and now Arvidsson. You can’t get money players with $30+ M going to guys who aren’t clutch.
Edmonton seems like a prime trading partner right now.
Byfield reminded me of Kopitar on a bunch of shifts last night. Really fun to see. You tell the kids got smarts and is willing to use his size and speed to score. I swear I saw more from him in one game than Kupari has in 40. Hate to say it, but Kupari may never see another shift at 3rd line center at least not on this team.
We have all been there. LolLost my ability to like posts!

Thanks for the kind words about Byfield. I hope that this is the Avs year the Avs break through
I kinda like Kupari. He does things really well one shift but then the next shift makes a boneheaded play.
Him, Turcotte, Vilardi and Fagemo really need to take the next step. Some will have to be moved because I imagine there will be a new batch of young players coming to Ontario soon with all the drafting the Kings have done recently.
That's an expectations problem, then, because no one sas ever pretending VA was anything but a volume shooter who puts up points. He's a complementary player, not "the guy" or a sniper/clutch finisher.
60 pts for 4.25 million is a f***ing bargain no matter how you get there.
Uh, that trade never really worked for the Kings. They only got past the 2nd round of the playoffs once in Gretzky's time with the franchise. Definitely was not worth spending so many assets to get him, and then following his acquisition, all of the assets wasted trying to get the pieces he wanted to get the Kings a Stanley Cup.Avs fans happy to be able to like the Kings again. (Quick has like a 36-8 record vs Colorado and in our dog days you gang were at the top. we always got our @$$ kicked)
Now you have the best prospect pool of drafted players, maybe Arizona next but that’s all just picks atm. Byfield flying around with that chrome helmet is sick.
But besides him…..do it. Do it! 1991 all over again. Whatever it takes. Biggest trade in hockey history take 2 this summer:
Edmonton and LA.
Team Arvy. The production doesn’t lie.I'm glad Arvidsson is the whipping boy instead of Iafallo and Kempe for once.
However, what's funny about that is he's scoring at an even better rate than those guys ever were he's on pace for a nearly 60 point season.
I get it, he makes plenty of visible gaffes, but he's aggressive and going for it.

Definitely not the way to build a real Stanley Cup contender. Gretzky turned out to be fool's gold.
He’s not a whipping boy for me, he ‘is what he is’ at a fair price. If cap became an issue all I’m saying is that the way Kempe has broken out this year means they’d move Arvidsson before Kempe. I quite like Arvidsson as he plays at a high tempo and I have to think his shooting percentage will go up at some stage.I'm glad Arvidsson is the whipping boy instead of Iafallo and Kempe for once.

Still not the performance you need or expected after trading for Gretzky. The Smythe was deadly though. Two years in a row they knocked off the prior year's Stanley Cup winner in the first round, only to lose to the eventual winner in the second.
Yep, even losing to the two best teams the Gretzky trade was every bit worthwhile. In just 5 years Gretzky's teams had already won 50% more playoff series than the Kings had won in the entire history. Moreover, they came within -- what -- 3 goals from winning a cup? You do that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday. The Smythe was deadly though. When you trade for Gretzky, you expect sustained excellence and Stanley Cup contention for a number of seasons. This didn't happen. Counterpoint - it was great for the box office and elevated the Kings rep to that of a "real" hockey team. But yeah, no cup.
So great for the box office that multiple ownership groups couldn't meet payroll and the team was ultimately put into bankruptcy.
Hence, not a great trade.Well, the revenue was great. It's just that the contract and other costs were even greater. They failed at basic accounting.
