Started as a preseason spat a couple years ago between Comcast/Altitude (Owned by Stan Kroenke), which everyone figured was posturing for new TV contract leverage. You folks know all about that in LA. Presumption was it might run a few games into the season at most.
Here we are, 300 unbroadcasted Avs/Nuggets games later, and both have seemingly spent millions of dollars on lawyers and won't budge. Blame on both sides, Kroenke/Altitude could have set up a streaming platform by now, or come off their high horse and conceded regional sports networks may be antiquated. But seems to me Comcast is acting in *extremely* bad faith, with this by now being an outright takedown attempt of Altitude network as the Nuggets/Avalanche broadcast rights would then revert back to Comcast itself as per their deal with those leagues should the channel go under. So I'm kinda rooting for the "little guy", though thats not made easy by Stan Kroenke's disgusting wealth making this all feel like a farce where the fans get $#@!ed.
Incredible to be happening when both local NBA/NHL teams are in a credible title window. We've learned to sail the high seas, but that doesn't help my boomer Dad who depends on cable. And annoyingly, the national broadcasts are able to notice VPN so those who cut the cord since Sports is their only interest are left following the GDT. (Perhaps myself this evening).
