Dustin Brown now ranked #9 in games played by American born players. One of two American Captains to hoist the Cup and the only American captain to win two Stanley Cups. One of the best American born players of all time.

And his team stripped him of the captaincy. Pathetic.

A soon to be fired GM and coach stripped him of the C.

Man glad someone went after Hakanpaa for Doughty's hit. He really paid for his knee to knee. Love this team. Seriously though Good win but a long ways to go. These 7 games coming up yikes. Praying for at least one overtime/shootout lost.

Minnesota gonna lay a beat down on LA if the Kings don't start by flying out of the gate.

Kings have the lowest points percentage (.520) with a positive goal differential......with a +1 lol

Quick should be one of the Olympic goalies, but I know that will not happen.

If we are going by this years stats, he is just behind Campbell for goalies with 10+ games. I imagine Helly makes it too, but who else would push out Quick?

Quality game from Phillip Danault last night. Great steal and pass to Brown to start the rush on Kempe's GWG. Also won the face-off to start the play that finished with Athanasiou's EN goal. That one didn't show up on the scoresheet, but the face-off was key. 68% on the dot last night.

Also a nice effort from Bjornfot on Kaliyev's goal to spring Kupari. Sometimes those secondary assists are really important.

Good game last night. As far as responsibility in the defensive zone and breakouts, this was the second best showing after the opening night win over Vegas. Drew was very good. Completely shutting down the Stars top line. Danault with more minutes than Kopi last night and under 20 minutes of TOI. Less is more sometimes. Vintage Quick performance and he's so improved with his play with the puck. He's definitely rising to the competition. Good to see the JAD-Moore-Grundstrom line back together. Showed that chemistry even though they haven't played together in quite a while. With Byfield coming back soon and Lemieux this weekend, the Kings are going to have to make a decision soon if they want to continue with this bottom 6 player carousel or not. If they do this crap again next season, there should be a revolt. Some of these guys with expiring contracts are going to need to be sent off at the deadline to make room.

How they treat Byfield is going to be the key to how I view everything from here on out, really.

It's gonna be January soon, time to make some future decisions, including giving guys like Turcotte cups of coffee. Some guys--Brown, Moore, etc.--have been playing themselves into at least a scratch or two.

Not a complaint after a win when everyone was contributing, just a thought re: Byfield's return. If they treat him as if he's just Kupari II, that'll tell me everything I Need to know about this org.

And it's nice to see a relatively consistent Kempe, he was an absolute monster last night, I know he didn't score on the play but he freaking worked Heiskanen into the ground just coming down the wing. He's a terrifying player when he puts it all together and he was doing it all last night, flying down the wing, cycling, jamming in front...I know we won't see high-ceiling Kempe as frequently as last night but I'm glad his floor is up too, he's an absolute top-six winger this year and I'm so happy for him, his confidence is sky high right now and hope it stays there, he has to know there's no one in the league who can handle his entire skillset when he's on.

So much of it is confidence. He knows he can turn guys inside out now. I really think that Kupari has the same type of qualities and upside. Once he gets his confidence at that level, hopefully it won't take 4 seasons, he's going to be of pretty good value. Thank goodness our bridge age group of Kempe, Iafallo (eye-a-falleeoo according to Snoop Dogg), Roy and Walker (until injury) are key contributors. It's not a complete barren wasteland between the 30+ y/o players and the youth.

As much as Kempe has been frustrating to a lot of fans - he really brings an element that is so valuable to the team (you can really see it in OT). I think as he ages you will see more consistency out of him, especially with great linemates.

JAD and Grundstrom played really well last night. I think they deserve more time in the lineup. These guys should be two mainstays in the bottom six. I'd love to see Kaliyev start to get more time on ice too.

There's going to be some really difficult roster decisions to where I think Blake is going to need to make a trade.

The top 2 lines are virtual locks right now:

Kempe/Kopitar/Brown
Arvidsson/Danault/Iafallo

Who's left for the bottom 6: Kupari, Kaliyev, Lizotte, Lemieux, Grundstrom, Athanasiou, Moore, Frk, Anderson-Dolan, Vilardi, Byfield, Turcotte, Andersson.

What 7 players do you eliminate from that list? Obviously you would first remove Frk, Vilardi, Byfield and Turcotte since they are not with the team (but any of us could make arguments why you'd still want to see those 4 on the team). Who plays and who doesn't? You gotta assume that Lizotte and Lemieux are going to have spots. JAD, Grundstrom, and Moore have shown good chemistry. Kaliyev has too good of a shot and has been improving. A good problem to have, but will need to be dealt with at some point.

Agree entirely and right now he has one of the best value contracts going. It’s going to be interesting to see if we sign him or move him as right now his trade value must be on the up and there is the much discussed logjam up front.

To be clear, I want to see him extended and be part of things going forward as I’ve always felt confident he’d eventually find consistency (not quite ready to say he’s made it) but it may be more pragmatic to move him. I’d live with it in a package for the correct roster player (LHD?) but I just hope AA goes on a tear and that we can then move him in the package instead. Yes, I know it’s wishful thinking :nod:

I’d move AA and Lizotte in a heartbeat, nothing against either guy but JAD is ready and we need to make space for Turcotte and/or Vilardi. I actually liked JAD starting in the AHL to give him more time to play in all situations but IMO it’s time especially with Wrobo out of action. I could see Kupari getting sent down also.

Didn't watch the game. Should do it more often as I didn't watch the wins in Toronto and Edmonton either but I was at every loss for that last big homestand.

My only question is if that dipshit that kneed Doughty played and, if so, did anyone on the Kings even look in his direction? Think I already know the answer.

I imagine it will become easier once they know if they are in the playoffs or not.
Do they move Brown and Edler to a contender if they arent in the playoffs or do they want to finish the year here?
Id start by moving guys they dont see as part of the future like AA and Andersson and mistake contracts like Roy and Moore. Maybe package these guys with picks and Vilardi and JAD and try to land Chychrun and Crouse. Curious to see how it plays out.
If they are out of the playoffs and become sellers they could finish the year with rookies getting a look.
Kempe - Kopitar - Byfield
Iafallo - Danault - Arvidsson
Kaliyev - Kupari - Turcotte
Crouse - Helenius - Lemieux
Anderson - Doughty
Chychrun - Clarke
Bjornfot - Durzi

You don't think Andersson is in our long-term plans? AA makes sense to be included in that. I just think the Kings need to maximize the trade value of these guys before jettisoning them for nothing (like Clague). However, Montreal fans don't seem to be too thrilled with him yet:

Its a shame as I hoped Clague would run with the opportunity.
I think Andersson was part of the plans but then got injured to start the year and other players have passed him in the coaches eyes.

Thank you. We couldn't have done it without you

and you are unfortunately right

His defensive game lately has been great. A few times in the past couple games he has had super noticeable breakups of dangerous passes or gotten back to strip the puck away. His play is even more impressive considering it's pretty much just him and Kopi doing 90% of the work on their line.

I think it's trending that eventually Kaliyev is going to be on that other wing opposite Kempe. That succession plan has to be in the works. At Brown's age, you lose a little speed, a little reflexes, a little accuracy and you see what you did last night. He's scored 1 goal in his last 20...and last night he was visibly frustrated at his missed opportunities and there were some golden ones. TMc is going to ride this train to the station it seems though.
