Kempe is currently at a 36 goal pace. I don't think he'll get there, but 25+ goals would be great.
Good things happen when you hold onto your 1st round picks.
For the past few weeks Kaliyev has been getting looks every game. Finally he buries one. More goals are on the way.
I think the positives of Durzi in the lineup far out way the negatives. The Kings are one of the best ES defensive teams in the league, they can afford to absorb Durzi's defensive play in exchange for what he bring offensively.
Yea I think Roy has been just ok to downright bad some nights since returning from injury last year.Roy's had three bad periods this year and now his contract was a "mistake"?
I love JAD, but his game last night wasn't anywhere near what Lizotte has been offering, but Lizotte should sit for him?
Never understood why fans are so quick to dismiss role players.
Lizotte has become a very good 4th line center. People want JAD in the lineup over him because he's a 2nd round pick and perceived as having more upside.Roy's had three bad periods this year and now his contract was a "mistake"?

His speed has also come in very handy on the back check. many times. The thing with Kempe is even though he is hot and cold as far as scoring is concerned, he is incredible at driving the play and entering the O zone. He always has energy and drive.
Some of his mistakes lately have been very visible and his consistency is off, that's for sure--yet for his role he's been, not counting DD of course, our all-around best, most reliable d-man all year.
Yea maybe Im being too hard on him. He just showed a lot of poise and played nearly mistake free before the injury. He isnt throwing those hits anymore and is coughing up pucks in his own zone a lot now. Misses coverages here and there also. Some of his mistakes lately have been very visible and his consistency is off, that's for sure--yet for his role he's been, not counting DD of course, our all-around best, most reliable d-man all year. His biggest issue is he's NOT Drew but was relied upon to be so. Still a very good #2-#3 guy shouldering more responsibility than he should, a Chris Tanev guy, and shouldn't be on the PP (which is where I noticed people whipping him a bit more).
I don't know, I think Edler has been that guy personally.
Lately, absolutely.
For the whole year, he's up there with Roy, but just behind him.
I'm speaking specifically from metrics as well as role here, Edler never had to masquerade as a #1.
It's not by a large amount or anything, I think every dman we has has mostly risen to the occasion as well as they can, but I notice this forum exalting Edler and beating down Roy and the biggest difference between the two has been handedness and a couple of really visible Roy mistakes lately.
Bless Edler though, what a great signing. Didn't think he'd have this much game left.

The thing I really like about Durzi, mistakes and all, is that he's aggressive. If he makes a mistake, its' not often that he's standing there looking around, it's because he's actively hitting someone or trying to make something happen.
He misses assignments quite frequently on D and it's really, really obvious yet, I can't even get mad, because I see him just mark someone and say 'that's my guy' regardless which at least lets his partner fill in the gap, and luckily both Bjornfot and Edler are HIGH IQ and can see it coming a bit.
That was my biggest issue with Clague. Clague did elevate his game at the NHL level, but he still showed times where he was playing as if he's afraid to make a mistake.
I remember you saying that and can definitely see it. As much as I love Clague he played a bit more tentatively, which I have theories on that don't matter anymore. For better or worse, Durzi is decisive.

When Byfield is healthy I assume he'll get the 3rd line center spot. So where are guys like JAD/Turcotte supposed to play? Are we gonna make them wingers?
Lizotte is only 23 and gets better every year. Byfield/Danault/Kopitar can't really be displaced.
