GDT: 2021-22 season game 22 LA Kings vs Calgary Flames @7:30pm 12/2/21

Playoff teams don't win one game in their 7 game homestand. And that one win was against one of the worst teams in the league. Stick a fork in these losers, they're done

One thing i noticed is we never seemed to get the bounces or breaks during this homestand. Everything went against them, from pucks being knocked in by our own guys [ nearly every game] to bad bounces, to goals not counting when they should. Tonight was another example of a clearing play, goes off a skate and right back to a Calgary player and in. This happened way too many times.

Turned it off after the third goal honestly, I'm done with this team this year already. It would be one thing if it was youth growing and mistakes, but it's just the same old vets eating all the playing time while we do our best to turn skill into checkers. Hope these guys get shitcanned before the elite talent gets ruined. Moral victory time is long, long over.

At this point I'd trade anyone older than Iafallo since they appear to be the cancer. At least tank with guys who care about each other and let the kids learn on the job. Gonna have to Art Howe guys like Kopitar if Turcotte, Byfield et. al. are ever to play in the NHL at this rate.

At this stage Brown could turn around and fire one into our own net and he'd get more time for it.

I'll watch the next game because I cannot WAIT to watch McDavid and Draisaitl absolutely cornhole this team, truly hope it's like 20-0. Because at this stage not one f***ing thing will change. So much for re-evaluating at the quarter pole, these assholes are doubling down on everything wrong.

I always thought it was Nickson who said he wanted to stay in the booth. I don't have a problem with our guys, except at times, Jim talks more than he needs, something Bob could always keep in check.

Yeah that's what everyone keeps saying but Nick said he was interested in the job and he let the Kings know but they decided to find someone else. I was puzzled. Personally it would have been a perfect fit. He's been in the organization for so long and does a tremendous job on the radio guess whomever is in charge didn't think so. Funny because the caller asked a hockey related question and Nick answered that question first and then the caller had to remind Nick before he forgot about the second question about replacing Bob. Not sure he wanted to answer the question. Lol. But just something interesting to think about I guess.

Try this then...Because he didn't play well when he was here and had a real hard time adjusting to the NHL. your original comment makes it sound like he's a scoring machine and deserves top ice time. He's in a lower league right now and he's got 1 single goal.

Have to remember though, Tkachev is allergic to shooting so his 1 goal isn't necessarily a true measure.

You are right though, people would be disappointed seeing him in LA if he plays the same way as he does in ONT. He's put up a lot of points, but he's very much a soft, perimeter player. That's not always a bad thing, but definitely it would be on this LA roster.

But he's an excellent Powerplay player and....well you know the rest.

Not at all saying he's the answer but he's an example of how f***ing stupid this organization is at deploying players to their strengths.

This is a major problem with all these kids I’m the pipeline. You’ve got these two joker brothers doing whatever they want. Kings need a couple killers out there.

Yeah, even in the postgame they all brought up the fact that someone need to step up and go after those guys who are trying to get Doughty off the ice. If doughty has to defend himself every time , he's going to the box for either 2 or 5. Calgary will take that any day.

He also floated a lot in the preseason as well as his 4 games, not even trying to engage at time, especially in the corners. He made some slick plays with the puck, but you need to do more than that to stay.

It’s hard to be positive but I’ll try briefly.

Pleased for Edler and a great goal for #100. I think he’s been a good add to the roster and I’d give him another year at this point. I’m not too worried about Andersson as he’s had a start/stop season and he’s already shown it takes him a few games to find his rhythm. It wouldn’t be an issue if the rest of the team was playing well, the problem is we’re hoping he’d fix all of our issues which is unrealistic. He will be fine. Arvidsson looks to me like he’s starting to look a bit sharper. That’s about it unfortunately.

I’m in the middle of the counter to the long list of positives I’ve just laid out…

Definitely happy for Edler. and I'm glad Iafallo's picked it back up as well, he works so hard he deserves a good year.

Cal...I think he's in his own head right now, makes me think of when Quick signed his big extension, seems like they try to do too mucht ojustify it instead of just being themselves. Not to compare Cal to Quick, of course.

Same problem for half a decade. Boring team playing boring hockey. The team needed a game breaker in the worst way and we got Danault and Arvidsson instead. Blake had a chance at Tarasenko and passed. Now it's like constipation watching this team play from 2 goals back. Hopefully Byfield develops into that game breaking talent that keeps me on the edge of my seat every time he touches the puck.

Honestly I'm good watching a 5-4 loss, but this team is so vanilla most nights. I want the Kings to win, but there's so little entertainment value right now.

Multiple coaches and the same problems still exist. Let’s stop blaming the coaches and look at the damn players. They’re the only common denominator at this point. If the kids are gonna learn, let them learn, this notion that losing breeds losing we can’t trade Kopitar or Doughty because we have no replacement bs is a self fullfilling prophecy. Move the tired core, let the kids have the reigns.

Islanders are a better team with a better coach and just lost 9 in a row. Also went through Covid tho.

This team still lacks finish and that extra gear. Been that way since 2014.

PP is a stagnant pass fest every year.

mathew Tkachuk is such a weasel. would not want him on the kings. Brady I would take in a second.

I have thought this often but how are "reverse hits" legal? Is not at at least interference, and often is elbowing? I have seen the odd king throw one and I question it then too.

It's a really smart play honestly. Doughty has no recourse. If he lays into him, that's a boarding call. If he doesn't, Matt gets off scot free. If he hits him just right, Matt flops.

it's not just Mathew who does it.
I wonder how it is not interference as it is someone hitting someone else who does not have the puck.

Oh I know it, we've seen even Frolov execute it well

Not sure I want it ruled interference as the vast majority of cases are a player actually steeling up and protecting themselves but I get what you're saying. In some cases the intent is clearly to drop your checker.
