GDT: 2021-22 season game 20 LA Kings vs Ottawa Senators @4:00pm (for some reason) 11/27/21

What Durzi said after his debut, interesting quote about Lemieux considering what was said about him.

"Durzi then reflected on the hours leading up to his debut. The Mississauga native received a plethora of support from his new teammates, including one who has had an enormous impact on the ice in recent weeks.
“Yeah, the team was really good about it,” Durzi noted. “Throughout the day, [Brendan] Lemieux actually sat down with me before the game, too, and just said a couple of nice words, which I thought was– really calmed me down a little bit.

Todd confirms he hates Lemieux:

Be interesting to see if this breeds a little bit of an 'us against the world' mentality a bit more. Kings have been too nice for too long and have accepted getting run over, but god knows Drew already has had enough of the canadian media, this probably isn't helping, and this week is gonna be a shitshow in Edmonton and Calgary

Lemieux obv. has a spotty past to put it mildly, but just like ADA in Carolina, seems to have realized the thin ice his career is on and how few shots he would have left, maybe he's grown up. He IS 25 now and appears to be growing into a bit more of the playing potential as well, so why wreck that

It's too bad Lemieux probably won't be playing against Calgary because Matthew, of course, weighed in on HNIC After Hours last night and echoed the "nobody likes him" shtick.

Maybe he wasn't well liked by teammates early in his career, and maybe he was selfish and only cared about himself early in his career, but I have a very hard time believing that's the case any more based on everything I've seen from him this season.

If Lemieux only cared about himself, why is he always the first one to stick up for teammates?

If Lemieux only cared about himself, I don't think he'd get this excited when his teammates score:

If Lemieux only cared about himself, I don't think he'd be this invested in the fate of his teammate's shootout attempt:

If Lemieux only cared about himself, I don't think there would be multiple clips of Lemieux teaching guys after practices how to handle themselves in fights:

If his teammates didn't like him, I doubt he gets invited to an outing with the boys:

I get that this is all anecdotal since I'm not in the locker room, but I'm just not buying it.

"no he's clearly a sociopath too, he gets into his teammates good graces before maliciously backstabbing them" -main board senators mob

5 minute major and an in-person hearing. Sounds like he bit him. Surprised to see so many people defending him. I love the element Lemieux brings, and Tkachuk IS a whiny twat but biting is a chicken shit move, period. I remember when Vancouver fans were defending Burrows and they sounded like irrational homers.

Grundstrom with a couple gimmies but on the scoreboard nonetheless.

Brown looked bad again, TMac adjusted but it will be interesting to see how it unfolds going forward. Can’t defend him in the lineup anymore. @Raccoon Jesus Jesus @Kingspawn @Herby

Still a tough situation imho but it’s time for a healthy scratch at least.
The look on Brown's face after his team scores a goal and there are high 5's...Dusty is almost scorning...its a what have you done for me lately league Coattails father time has caught up sorry to say...but wait your number will hang in the rafters because you played captain Kangaroo in '12 and '14. And still Dave Taylor is not in the Hall Of Fame?Off topic...sorry...yes time for a healthy scratch

i mean i haven't cataloged everyone opinions here but i think most people get that if he did it, he's gonna be punished. i just think we'd all like to see some proof beyond a guy coming out of a huge mess of a scrum with cuts on his hand and a claim that he was bit. if that exists, fine. he'll get suspended, we'll move on.

i have a separate question about how roussel can openly bite vlasic, get fined, and going back further have grabovski admit to biting a guy and not receive a punishment at all.. then lemieux gets 5+ games because reasons?

I'm totally fine with Lemieux getting suspended. I will say though, as I've looked into it, it's pretty freaking gross that this would be the first suspension of a bite, especially since the bite itself isn't visible.

****, even Marchand gets a warning for licking.

Lemieux is on his 4th team...Buffalo,Winnipeg,NYRangers and now Kings and he's not even 26 years old...could be time for another address after that BS action...BTkachuk could be right,Lemieux maybe outta the NHL soon and maybe suiting up for a team in the "gulag" state of Siberia!!!If all is true wow just wow!!! I expect a lot fire works from opposing teams on LA's slate but if Tkachuk is crying wolf well...

sounds like he's gettin a juicer

I hope he mention that Brady was trying to gouge his eyes out and scratching his face. That part of the video is very clear. There's not a single clear video of him biting him though. The refs were the only ones with a clear look if any. Tkachuk melt down in the box was pretty epic.

Can you really count Buffalo? If you already don't like Lemieux, than I guess so, but he was drafted high in the 2nd rd, and dealt less than a year later in a pretty big cap era trade, and as a prospect, so he hadn't been able to anything evil in the NHL yet. So really only 3 teams. Not that a little bite is the worst thing that's ever happened on NHL ice. Maybe relax on the damnation of a soul to eternal hellfire.

In person means this will be a lengthy suspension. Probably 5 games. Keep in my Lemieux has been suspended before as recently as 2020, so that's going to work against him.

Personally, I'm not defending the bite itself. I've just found the Tkachuks' (and the media's) histrionics to be a bit much (particularly after Brady started the whole incident and was shoving his hand and fingers towards Lemieux's eyes and mouth).

The entire country has got the vapours over this, it's insane.

It is absolutely inconceivable (and therefore likely to happen, this IS the NHL after all) that you give totally different consequences to one individual than was administered to others previously for the same offense.

Follow precedent. If biting was as egregious as others are saying, why no suspensions previously? It was not a hit to the head or avoidable boarding or intentional knee hit.
Fine him and move on, just like with others before Lemieux. No differential punishment for same crime.
