GDT: 2021-22 season game 20 LA Kings vs Ottawa Senators @4:00pm (for some reason) 11/27/21

I'm getting a weird feeling that it is going to be a long suspension. Like they want to make an example of him, so it will be 20 games or so. Hope I'm wrong.

Me too. Very strange vibes. I would normally say 10+ seems excessive but they're being very weird about it and with the Canadian media circus fainting on couches about it all day every day he'll get 20 and still get editorials about "not long enough."

That would be absurd. 3-5 games should be it. Tkachuk was back playing right away so Lemieux didnt jeopardize his career or anything.
I cant figure out why people are making such a huge deal about it like he took the whole hand off or something.

i believe when they "offer" an in-person meeting, it's because they're talking 5+ though i don't know how appeals fit in there

10 games is totally outrageous. 20 games I don't even know what to say. I find the whole "boycott everything" social trend annoying but a 20 game suspension would be so odious I would honestly lose interest in even supporting the league for a while. It would be so overdone that you simply can't ignore their bias because Lemieux is an average player so they can throw him on the chopping block.

20+ is reserved for raffi torres type behavior imo, where a guy shows blatant disregard for other players' health over a long period of time, i don't believe that one incident should ever even come close

even that huge kadri/faulk hit only saw 8 and that was like, the definition of a malicious headshot from a repeat offender

It shouldn't be, I just get a bad vibe.

One part 'league hates Lemieux' one part "distract everyone from horrible Sens team and the fact that Brady is a douche" and one part repeat offender and one part HNIC is just like the perfect storm for DOPS to do something in the spotlight that everyone outside of LA would be fine/happy with.

The Sens are the ass cheeks of Canadian hockey, no one cares about them anyways.

I hope it's no more than five games. Lemieux has a few screws loose and biting has absolutely no place in the league, but he's been a big help to the team this year.

As always though, the DoPS Wheel of Injustice spins to its own rhythm. You never know what you're going to get. For all we know, that's the last game of Lemieux's career.

Come back soon Pepe you f***ing lunatic :(

There's a couple going on going on Twitter already (see below). 11.1% no suspension. LOL.

That's a bummer, I thought there was one more game. I was just getting my new foam finger ready.

So you can say, “I’m shocked” AND “I told you so” at the same time if it’s 10! Well played sir.

haha 10 is just what I have been going with from the outset, but then looking at how many games previous bites have received it is a very high number.

He was suspended for a hit that occurred on March 13th of 2020 (last Rangers game before COVID) but wasn't suspended until July when the "playoffs" started. He technically isn't a repeat offender if you go from 18 months from the hit but is a repeat offender if the use when the suspension was handed down in July of 2020.

Regardless, he has a reputation (earned) and biting is simply not a part of the game. Interference, elbowing, boarding, kneeing etc...are things that can happen within the flow of a game. Guy turns at the last second and a legal hit becomes a suspension. Bite a dude though? Even if he puts his hand in your mouth during a scrum, it's just not an action that you can really argue in favor of even if it is human nature to chomp down on the hand of someone you are fighting if they happen to put their hand in your mouth.

This league suspended a star player for playoff games last season simply for hitting someone too hard because it was high-profile and all the pearls were clutched. I feel like he's getting five games for sure and--no political opinions going on here--but the woke contingent of NHL Twitter that wants to get every aggressive player and play banned from the league are out for blood on this one and Lemieux is an easy sacrifice for the NHL. Who is going to be upset about a 10 game suspension? Kings fans. BFD for the NHL in the grand scheme of things. They'll also get to toss some bullshit in there about "how this is more dangerous in the time of COVID" so it looks like they give a shit even though they had Ottawa play the Kings with half a team out on the COVID list. Ottawa being the team this happened against is actually the worst possible opponent since the NHL can do a little mea culpa action for that garbage it pulled on the Sens earlier.

Said it better than I could, bravo. No one cares about Lemieux but the Kings, the harder the book they throw, the better as far as everyone else is concerned. Hell he could get 10 games and I absolutely guarantee some "NHL messed this up, should have been more" editorials.

Add in one part whiny Brady, one part Canadian media interviewing every player across canada in the aftermath, one part the Sens are terrible and this takes the focus off them...there are just so so many reasons this adds up to a bullshit extra long suspension.

I will never forget the pants-shitting crybaby face Brady had when Lemieux pulled that reversal, though. Especially when paired with his comments after.

I don't get why no one is blaming Baby Brady for sticking his hand into another person's mouth. I can't see in the video, but it's not like Lemieux grabbed Ta-Ka-Chuck's hand and bit it.
