GDT: 2021-22 season game 18 LA Kings vs Arizona Coyotes @7:00pm 11/21/21

"why did we waste a 4th on Lemieux?"

Damn, maybe Blake's best deal. Could honestly see him playing line 1, drop Arvidsson to line 2. AA line 3.

Lemieux Kopitar Kempe
Iafallo Danault Arvidsson
Moore Kupari AA
Andersson Lizotte Kaliyev

Lemieux has the ability, strength, speed, shot, board play. It's so refreshing to see a player go out and play like that. Would give Kopi and Kempe some room
and he's good enough to make plays, go to the net, shoot the puck. Never thought I would see him play that well. I just cannot see him failing.

And Brown still gets 13:45 ice to Lemieux's 10:58. When Lemieux is going like that, 5 hits, 2 shots and if not tripped, would have had 2 goals and won the game. No OT.
Kopi is slowing down and NO way should be on the PK anymore. Danualt, Iafallo, Moore, Kempe and Kupari (or Lizotte) could cover all minutes.

Brown still on PP2? 2 PP pts in last 41 games, I think I read today. Put Rasmus out there.

Get Lias and Grundstrom in there and sit Brown and 1 of Moore / AA next game. Moore never hurts you, but he's not done quite as well as last year.
Danault has not had his best stretch the past 4. Nor, Iafallo. They've been ok, but not like they were going earlier.

How is Roy put on PP1 and Clague goes to PP2? Could have used Durzi tonight, instead of Mata. I am stripping him of too many letters. No more AA rating.

Shake things up.

Next year, want to see: Lemieux Byfield Chromiak.
Your too reactive. Moore is a good 3rd/4th liner, keep him in there. Yes Brown should not be out for the pp, but take Kopitar off of the pk? That's insane.

We need a trade. Blake needs to make a significant trade here and acquire a guy that can bury it. A sniper. A Toffoli type that can play all 3 zones. A swiss army knife guy. We can't wait for Vilardi to 'get it'. We need to package him up and get somebody before this team loses all confidence and we become a cellar dweller again.

Wow it’s so weird yeah must just be bad luck 4 games in a row.

the winning streak kings must be the real version, not the team that loses in a much larger sample size on either side of that streak and in almost copycat fashion to last season
It's probably not either or, but we'll see soon.

I remember when you used to be rationale. A voice of reason. Now you're emotional / reactive.

Roy had a good night as the QB, can't fault a good hard accurate point shot - nobody did a damn thing to try and create any traffic for redirections or rebounds.

Kupari and Moore are sandbagged with a guy who couldn't keep up with their slowest center much less their fastest. Brown was coughing up pucks between the blueline and dots again and again. He can't be the first guy in anymore, he can't make plays, he can't play in front of the net, there is just nothing left for him to contribute to. You don't scheme to make him more effective, you yank his ass off the ice.
I agree ideally Brown would be gone - but the team just wont do it. Roy did OK, but the PP lacks creativity and Clague is more creative than Roy by quite a bit. His skating is smoother, has sharper cuts and his passing is crisper and more accurate.

i don't think you promote lemieux off of that game. hell of a game, don't get me wrong, but i don't think his game is effective on kopi's wing

lias in for brown is a pipe dream but it's the right dream at this point in time. lias has already seen time on kopi's wing, he could probably play up there and keep lemieux on lizotte's wing where i think there's some chemistry or at least similarity in playstyle. AA isn't gettin it done and i don't feel him on danault's wing either, maybe on kupari's you could let the speedy bois be speedy bois to change up the attack pace

Pretty easy to see why this assclown was on the wrong side of the reverse sweep now. Stubborn, arrogant, and braindead is a pretty bad combo.

There is no plan B to win games, and their plan A sure appears to value wins now over nurturing the future.

Half measures in both directions. Somebody here needs to step back, see that there is no reason to cater to veterans who have gone 7 years with just one playoff game win, and firmly decide that the only course of action is to reap the rewards of the long-suffering rebuild. The players are already available for ****'s sake.

I believe that will only come from a Mr. Outside Hire who doesn't care that these guys are a "family".

I may be in the minority, but I think Lias Andersson is better than Moore, AA, Lizotte and of course, Brown. Nothing against Moore, he's a good player.
I want to see Kupari play and get some PP2 time. He can create his own chances, but not a lot going for him with Moore and Brown. He's got an awesome
shot, but not enough playing time or right combo to see the best of him.

Kopi is a workorse and not saying he's bad on PK and good on faceoffs, but he's almost 35 and playing 23 minutes a game.
I'd keep him under 20 and not use him on PK. He's looking slow; especially by 3rd period.

I drop rationale all the time, you just don’t agree with it. If I were just emotional and reactive, I wouldn’t have been critical during the winning streak.

here’s some rationale for you. The Dustin brown effect ladies and gentlemen.

i think it's fair to be emotional about the team situation right now though. we were sold, as fans, a message of a playoff contender and they cemented it by bringing in arvidsson and danault.. a streak does not a playoff team make. especially when these demons of vanishing lines and veterans hang around even when they get new linemates. arvidsson and danault was supposed to make this team have a LIGHTS OUT 1-2 punch and while i don't want to disparage danault much because that line's been killing it in spite of, kopitar's line can't vanish at the same time, and the PP failures are just unacceptable at this point. sturm should have been gone yesterday if he's even running the PP. who knows under todd.

Last note

last four losses in isolation would probably be ok but in combination—

-winning against the yotes deep in the third—lost in OT
-Kept coming back on the canes, gave up goals within seconds three times, including the game winner with less than a minute left in the seconD and a minute after tying
-coughed up the GWG vs the caps with only minutes left in the third
-winning against the jets in the third, lost in OT.

Choke city, and the combination of the post-JWill kings and possibly the ringleader of the chokiest team of all time was probably a bad idea in retrospect

A trade??? Wasting assets on this core is delusional unless they are still in it at the deadline.
What they need is Byfield and Turcotte to come in and take over as the new core and bring a new sense of emotion, purpose and energy.

yeah, i think it's a dangerous slide into deano land if they start making more trades to try and hold on to this, arvidsson/danault should have been the last attempt and it's tactical nuke time if they're out by the deadline

Todd can change up the lines with every combo imaginable and it's not going to matter, reality is Kings are just not a very good team. Not even sure if changing the coach is the solution. After Sutter, Stevens, Willie D, and now Todd haven't been able to do much. There may be nothing anyone can do. It might be time to do a total overhaul and start playing the kids. Who knows frustrating for sure.

Why would we want to break up the Lemieux/Lizotte line when they're playing well? Maybe just increase their ice time instead.

I'm still annoyed with Kopitar's ice time, which has actually increased over last season. He lead Kings forwards in PK TOI again. There's no reason for that when we have Lizotte and Danault.

AA/Moore/Brown should be the ones on the docket for getting scratched.

hell even kupari was picking up PK minutes early right? his puck pursuit and gap closing is probably valuable there

Lemieux has looked good to great every game. I'm sure he'll e getting more than 10 minutes a game soon enough.
Lias injured his groin again the game with Kopi and was playing hurt and left that game. He never had a full game up there
and was not healthy. When he was healthy in preseason, he was the best King on forecheck, board play and stealing pucks.
And also cashed in on his breakaway against Lehner. Then got hurt.

Not sure what's worse, Toronto with 40 million tied up in 4 players and getting bounced 5x in the first round of playoffs......or the Kings first 3 lines.

How long do you think that will take? For QB and AT to be ready to take over the core? Doughty will be gone. Kopitar will be gone. Our prospects now, will be in their mid to late 20s or 30s. The time is now. Oh but you think QB and AT will be ready to jump right in? No. Their will be a time of learning and adjustment. Just look at the trouble we've had with Vilardi. You want that to happen to QB?

Its one thing when you lose 3 in a row to the Jets, Caps and Canes, all teams at the top of the standings. But tonight really pissed me off. If this team is dead on serious about making the playoffs you cannot lose these games. Period. Get your f***ing act together

Also I don't think its any coincidence that the 2nd line starting sucking once Athanasiou came back. I don't think he fits that line at all with Iafallo and Danault who are very good possession players where Athanasiou is a counter attack merchant

I dont know when it will be. I dont know if it will even happen. Its just what they need to happen at some point. If not they are in trouble until they draft the game changers.
I think Byfield Turcotte and Clarke have it in them though.

#bagskate

No excuse to lose this game!

This is the unfortunate truth and until the prospects can start earning bigger roles and and developing into impact players, it'll just be more of the same.
