GDT: 2021-22 season game 18 LA Kings vs Arizona Coyotes @7:00pm 11/21/21

Coyotes have points in 4 straight. It's not like they were playing complete trash hockey.

Forget about it johnjm22, it's Complainingtown.

That's a bad loss. Not shocking, because they played the Coyotes in LA. Rarely is that good for the Kings. The Kings do ok in Ari, but for whatever reason, the Coyotes just play well here.

You never going to outplay a team for 60 minutes.

The game ebbs and flows. Outplaying a team for 66% of game is about as good as it gets at this level.
Folding at the end isn't just ebbs and flows. Face it, they choked.

My only hope is TM and Blake are long gone before they can wreck the Turcotte generation

dear posters who were giving me shit saying “well we are winning so that’s all that matters”… not good enough on any level. Keep coughing up third period leads, win or lose. Pp can’t do anything. Same ol, same ol. Basically the 2015-2017 kings reincarnate.

I fought the “but they look good” and “stellar corsi metrics” battle for five years, I get what you’re trying to do by staying positive but trust me, we have seen this movie before.

Lizotte's line was the only one that generated a second chance opportunity all night. Can't over credit a goalie who only has to worry about one shot at a time.

A lot of that credit goes to the goalie. He didn't give them much and allowed little loose.

Not to say they couldn't have played better, but that was a goaltender dialed in. He forced the Kings forwards to think they had to get cute.

There's gonna be portions of the game where the other team is carrying the play.

Nothing wrong with criticizing their play in the 3rd, but Kings clearly out chanced, out shot, out possest the Coyotes. Usually when you do that you win, but not always.

guy was a nutter, against most other goalies kaliyev's got 1 or 2, he read that one timer like a book and jumped it like quick used to, clean glove on another ticketed glove side upper 90

this is how every other team felt during prime quick

Outchanced? Not so much.

And Brown still gets 13:45 ice to Lemieux's 10:58. When Lemieux is going like that, 5 hits, 2 shots and if not tripped, would have had 2 goals and won the game. No OT.
Kopi is slowing down and NO way should be on the PK anymore. Danualt, Iafallo, Moore, Kempe and Kupari (or Lizotte) could cover all minutes.

Brown still on PP2? 2 PP pts in last 41 games, I think I read today. Put Rasmus out there.

Get Lias and Grundstrom in there and sit Brown and 1 of Moore / AA next game. Moore never hurts you, but he's not done quite as well as last year.
Danault has not had his best stretch the past 4. Nor, Iafallo. They've been ok, but not like they were going earlier.

How is Roy put on PP1 and Clague goes to PP2? Could have used Durzi tonight, instead of Mata. I am stripping him of too many letters. No more AA rating.

Shake things up.

Next year, want to see: Lemieux Byfield Chromiak.

The team is not very talented yet... whats the top 6: 11, 9, 33, 22, 25, 19 ... I believe if you add up these numbers (like last years point totals or this years), its prob one of the lowest in the league. Good to get Brown off the top 6.. but the 3rd line was horrid. I believe its time to send Kupari back to Ontario.. and create a strong checking 3rd line with Brown throwing his body around... which he's still good at. 4th line is really the top line on the team and its like a secret weapon. Kopi cannot carry the 1st line , the PP or the team in any way. They need to cut his minutes - he's dead by the time the get to OT and he usually starts OT. I like Kaliyev on the PP1.. but taking off Clague I dont like. He's more decisive and has more accurate passes than Roy by a lot. His D zone coverage is not great tho.. but on PP he is solid.

None of this will make a difference until DD is back.

felt like todd didn't even want to ice that kupari line, he was trying his damndest not to. agreed about clague too, i feel like he quarterbacks it better than roy

i think he could've iced the lemieux line a lot more than he did, i'm not sure if he was trying to protect kaliyev's minutes with the PP1 promotion, but i think you have to overlook that and ice the hot line

I am talking about a full 2 minute PP in the zone that didn't see a soul move in front to screen or a series of wristers from the slot that he could focus on without fear of traffic or redirections.

This may have been a busy night for their goalie, but it wasn't a hard one.

These guys are still in no mans land with the vision.

If they decide they want to win 2-1, 1-0 games then sure, keep the current personnel but better learn how to hold a third period lead. For a roster filled with checkers and two way guys they sure suck at locking it down. The problem is they also suck at breaking open a couple of goals when needed like PP or EN.

if they decide that’s not going to work, well, they’d better get used to playing their offensive talent in offensive situations and be comfortable with the idea that mistakes will happen, and start shaking the roster up with talented youth.

I'm most worried that we have no goal scorers on the team (and really haven't for years). Arvidsson and Athanasiou have a combined 4 goals in 19 games. That ain't gonna cut it.

I agree i wanted to see them more and bench the 3rd line... checked lizotte and kupari and each had 10 minutes of time. Wouldve rather seen that like 14 and 6.. i think TM hesitant to treat Brown like the bender that he is - prob influenced him.

Roy had a good night as the QB, can't fault a good hard accurate point shot - nobody did a damn thing to try and create any traffic for redirections or rebounds.

Kupari and Moore are sandbagged with a guy who couldn't keep up with their slowest center much less their fastest. Brown was coughing up pucks between the blueline and dots again and again. He can't be the first guy in anymore, he can't make plays, he can't play in front of the net, there is just nothing left for him to contribute to. You don't scheme to make him more effective, you yank his ass off the ice.
