The concerns over the form of Kopitar and the special team issues not withstanding as things currently are I have to conclude the system changes this season are largely successful. There is obviously work to do but if Kopitar can get going this team will look like a strong playoff contender. Let’s face it even though most of us don’t like the way the PP is set up, if Kopitar finds his form it’s going to help not just 5/5 but also our special teams.

If Petersen can continue the rediscovery of his game it solidifies the goaltending and we’d just be an in form Kopitar and a solid LHD away from being a team nobody wants in the first round. Throw in a Byfield and it might get fun.

I know I’m getting a bit ahead of myself but the recent form has been great, so I’m now genuinely hopeful of post season hockey for the first time. I still stand by my priority being player development this season but a round or two of play-off hockey will be superb for Byfield, Kaliyev, Turcotte and co.

Habs fan in peace

with MB hired and Montreal rebuild. What would a toffoli return be like. Any interest? MB brought him in maybe a a homecoming
I would love Toffoli back, but we don't have space to fit all the forwards in now & have more coming soon.

If we remain in a playoff position by the deadline and with the acquisition of MB I wouldn't be surprised to see a move for Ben Chiarot; especially with Edler being out.

I would. The price for him simply because of the market he's in is absolutely stupid for the player he is.

Better off chasing Soucy or Lauzon from Seattle for much cheaper and possibly for a better term.

I was going to make a thread about it but got lazy, frankly the Kings are looking like an absolute first-round nightmare for anyone. Zero expectations, great goaltending, strong defense, youthful energy, and forechecking beyond belief, comfortable mucking the game right up.

They still have to make it which will require the goaltending stay in top shape OR scoring to start bursting...but to make some real noise, if they just keep doing waht they're doing and either Kopitar or (3C) can jump start the scoring along with decent special teams, I actually think they're a solid playoff team with a 50-50 chance to get out of a round. Hell, Quick could steal at least 1 while guys start to believe; we saw that already in 2012, and I saw a flicker of belief over the last few games.

From the Habs, if Edler is out for the year. Edmundson if he's cheap + healthy... for a playoff run. Chariot will be too expensive... me thinks.

I will also kick the tires on Romanov. We need this type of D in our pool badly.

How (or even why) is it possible that we are nearly 50% through the regular season and still have not played one game yet against Seattle?!? Am i being a bitch or should the NHL schedule makers do a better job of this? IS it that difficult to send Seattle down here or just go up there. Heck, even all 3 St. L games done by game #10. Weird to me.

I don’t think how you can say this guys wasn’t a good guy honestly. You can’t say everything about his management skills but saying he’s a bad humain is just completely false
Yes Id like to know specifically what the complaint is with his character.. drafting the kid that snapchatted having sex? that was really not smart.. otherwise what is there?

I’d look at Chara if he’d come out west. Fraction of the costs of the others. No where close to his heyday but brings a lot of what’s missing on the back end.

You know what? You are absolutely right, and I had not noticed either. That’s bananas.

How about being complicit in the sweeping under the rug of sexual assault during his time with Chicago? Not buying for one second he didn't know what was going on...

I didn't even think of Chara.. it somewhat makes sense too if we're in a position to acquire a player at the deadline and the price is low.

At that price it doesn't really hurt.

I wouldn't offer him anymore than 1.5 million on a one year deal.

Currently 6th in scoring amongst our forward group currently. Having him on a 4th line role wouldn't be a terrible idea.
Up until two games ago he got top line minutes and a lot of powerplay time so hes the sixth best top six forward on the team. They should turn the page but theyll sign him like you said.
