I mean Luc and Blake are HOFers who both won cups, albeit with different orgs. But us armchair gms know way more than those two bums.

Being a successful player has zero bearing on being a successful executive. Some have been good like Yzerman but plenty of others haven't. Blake and Luc both both joined extremely successful organizations that won before and after each one left.

I think there are some posters here that would have done a better job than Rob Blake has done since he took over, the bar isn't exactly high.

I strongly doubt an uneducated guy like Luc gets the nuance of running a business that big.

But I also strongly doubt that a business as big as AEG doesn't supply him and others with some sort of safety nets and that team players like former NHLers don't know how to defer to people that are better at certain aspects of the job.

I just think we fans are chomping at the bit for that next era as we watch the end of the last era. I think LA made the decision to pursue playoffs and not to consider this another tank year. I think they hope the byproduct of an NHL playoff year and AHL for that matter will provide growth to some of these prospects. I also expect some excess to be traded (ie Chychrun). This season is what it is. Expecting a black hole pick but if the team can move forward at all it will be worth it.

To be fair to the coach and staff I'm assuming there's a plan we're not privy to; however, we can only evaluate based on what we've seen and they're far from transparent. On the surface, this entire organization is currently an absolute circus, from the game day presentation to their handling of youth at multiple levels to the social media dog calendars. So I'm going to criticize what I'm privy to because I'm a fan who is hurting and I don't have to protect my access to the organization and I would hope they would take fans thoughts' semi-seriously even if it's just the thought that "hey guys the fans have no clue what we're doing." As someone mentioned earlier, DL had no reservations with sharing his 'boxes' and vision for the team and the team's identity took shape damn near immediately. Can anyone yet verbalize any of this for the current admin? I think not.

As far as Bernstein goes, though, he can go f*** himself with a cactus. The smug, egotistic thought that he's somehow better/smarter than any other armchair GM just because he had the fortune of being in the right place at the right time to get plugged in when I guarantee you there are PLENTY of Kings fans out there who have forgotten more hockey than he'll ever know. It's like at times these guys think Kings fans were all born in 2012 rather than 1967.

The folks that feel like they're lecturing down TO fans instead of right along with them are just showing off their insecurity and lack of true knowledge/authority. If he was calling himself a dumbass right along with all of us? I'd go along for the ride. Part of being a fan is riding the illogical waves all over. But alienating your potential audience because you think you're smarter/better than you are and you straight up insult those with different thoughts? Good way to lose some current and future viewership. I stopped listening months ago even though I was starved for Kings coverage simply because of that attitude.

You never see the Spittin Chickletts guys do that, for example. At least, I haven't. Because they know they're the real deal and they don't have to judge anyone to feel better about what they do.

Then again, I can't imagine there's a more insecure 'public' role than sidekick to a mediocre blog.

Honestly, I think 99% of Luc stuff on the boards comes from you saying this. I’m not saying you are wrong by the way or that he needs to be a savant even. Just interesting that one person on the forum saying so has so much sway. Guess I’ll take your daughter’s word on him cause I can’t refute it. I met him once. Seemed like a nice dude but I can’t make a stone cold judgement on his work ethic from that meeting.

Blake has no idea what he's doing, we are back to the DT days of just accumulating prospects and hoping that former players who won nothing can develop and coach them up. Just like with Frolov, Cammalleri, Gleason etc. we are expecting young players to integrate into a loser organization that has no idea how to get the best out of them. Blake is a collector, not a developer.

And agree 100% on the podcast guys, just a bunch of guys who got into the podcast and blog game early on and are for some reason given credit by many as being experts on the game. This is just like these fantasy football experts who got into that blogging/podcast game early and were able to monetize their views, but I'm sorry Matthew Berry is no expert on evaluating football players weekly production. Good for Bernstein and the Mayor for being able to make some $$ discussing something they are passionate about but there are many on this board I'd rather pay to listen to.

That's the thing. I think we got spoiled with Dean. Not articulating the plan is the modus operandi for most of the league - good executives and bad.

The only credit I give to Hoven and Bernstein is that they are often at TSC to watch practices, so their lines are sometimes correct. Their hard-hitting journalism is akin to reading tabloids. Take them with grains of salt. Which isn't to say that there isn't thought put into things like prospect rankings, nor is it to say that these guys aren't also fans of the team, but it is to say that their word isn't gospel.

There just really isn't much Kings coverage to go around. Dillman, Hoven, Dooley. Is Gann still writing? Anyone I'm missing? I'm not even sure what it is I'd love to see, I just know I don't currently see it. Maybe I should just start writing some Kings content myself.

I’m not saying he is a f***ing genius. But many are acting like he’s an idiot do nothing. I’m just saying the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. People learn on the job. I don’t even know how much say he has in day to day decisions over Blake. He always seemed like liaison to the fans more than anything. Yes I think he has input but I don’t think he is micromanaging Blake. I really don’t give a shit about the peripheral calendars and giveaways. Not that important in the grand scheme of things. Execs come and go. Even the best. BLuc won’t get by forever without results.
