Well, Brown looked much better in limited minutes. Little bit of the "crusher/rusher/usher" thing with him. Seemed like he was looking to be more physical in the limited minutes: he's best as a crusher at this point. When he gets put with Kopitar and has to play more minutes, he turns into 1st line rusher Dustin and he sucks, making everyone want him to be an usher.

If he's in that 12 minute range, he should play better. Just looked at his last five games and it wasn't just my eyes: minutes increased significantly the last two games and, in those games, he was credited with zero hits.

i'd be a pig in shit man.. my biggest beef with brownie is that even if his offense lacks and he can't skate, as a professional you have to adapt and just bruise guys and stand in front of the net to help out

i think he's on track for another career low in hits..

WHich is my main beef w/brown at this point. He looks better in limited minutes, but wholly unwilling or unable to adapt to play just a simpler game. He still wants to dangle, but he's not moving and just flubs the puck. He couldn't even DUMP the puck last game without getting it knocked down. The lightning in particular REALLY exposed him as a non-NHLer.

If I'm the avs, my assignments vs. Byfield just got a LOT easier--just key on him because the only other person getting the puck through the neutral zone could be Grundstrom and he's just going to chip and chase with above average speed.

Unless Byfield pulls a miracle and gains the zone himself before slowing it down to hit a guy coming late, I guarantee that line is just dumping it in all night and changing, not really unlike Turcotte-Kupari-Brown but at least two of those guys were fast enough to get in on the D and make them think a little bit, Avs might be breaking out uncontested tonight.

I'd LOVE to be wrong, because I really really like Grundstrom, obviously LOVE Byfield, and want Brown to be able to finish his career looking like he did during the streak with reduced minutes.

But I get the feeling Brown and Fagemo will get swapped at some point anyway--making this line stronger but unfortunately raising Brown and Kopitar's minutes, rinse, repeat.

But this of course is my main complaint with development--making guys 'earn it' who are doing well with their minutes but they can't finish for guys who can't finish and they can only play so much forechecking/defense. Play them in the role you want them in. I'm sick of these games. If you want Turcotte to be a top sixer, play him in the top six, or at least in offensive situations with offensive players instead of with plugs and harder starts than Danault. If you want Byfield to be your 1C...not gonna rant again but it's like TM just cannot stop shooting himself in the dick and undoing all the good things they've done.

Don't understand all the Brown hate. He is not a top line player anymore, but if he is put there that's not him IMO. I think he should be a 3rd line guy who get PP time at this point. A lot of players have talked about Brown's leadership, so why not have QB with him?
The Brown hate comes from a bunch of posters who want to see a shine new Jaguar and can't stand to see the old Ford Galaxy in the driveway. The Ford Galaxy is built like a tank, seats six comfortably, and rumbles like an empty stomach. Still does the job capably. The new Jag is a total mystery, but they've convinced themselves it can't possibly be any worse. Every time they look at that old boat, they see all the scratches and dings and fantasize about the new car smell they could have.

Same. Brown on the top line, I get the hate, but even that's not on him. TMac puts him there so he plays there. Why bag on a guy for doing the job he's told to do even if he can't do it anymore? In reduced minutes he's been fine and able to contribute more. Less is more with him now and if you have a 37 year old putting up a 38 point pace on the third line, there's not much to complain about. He's still NHL caliber he's just not the old Dustin we all pine for.

'Mr Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.'

Is scarring as it was to see that line combo for QB, if you want him playing center there isnt much you can do - except maybe put the boat anchor (DB) up on the first line, and give QB Fagemo since he can keep up and shoot
Followed immediately by louder wailing about Brown getting undeserved top line minutes. Not sure which would be worse.

The rebuild is pretty much done.

Lots of posters making excuses. Time for Turcotte and Fagemo to go back to Ontario.
Not excuses, you just clearly don't get it.

The rebuild doesn't end by simply drafting players, it ends when those picks replace the old and feeble players ahead of them.

That doesn't happen until the babysteps are taken and the players grow into NHLers. Every single one of the kids who debuted this year were ready for that first step out of camp. But, this organization still has delusions of grandeur and installed speed bumps instead of taking the correct route.

CG-QB-DB, The Family Truckster line. Could produce a little crash and smash. Beefy. Which Av's line do they play against? Our change.

Well, I for one am sure glad the Dustin Brown booster club is here to tell us what we're actually seeing, I was under the impression he was the guy flailing through the neutral zone turning the puck over all game, but turns out he's still the 2012 power forward hitting everything that moves and going to the net hard and scoring.

Thank goodness, our power play could use that kind of presence. Oh, what's that? I'm being told he's already on the PP and the top line minutes? Huh. Imagine that.

Id rather hear the wailing for DB getting top line minutes... Its weird dealing w player with a strong legacy in what should be has last season... I remember the coach rental Torchetti scratched Luc toward the end of his last season and it didnt go over too well... but there wasnt a QB ready for action back then. Id like to see DB in the press box personally.

What exactly are people expecting from this call up? He's given 25:00 out the gate, plays top PP and PK time?
If you want him to be the man tonight yea give him those minutes and put Iafallo on his wing with a shooter like Fagemo, Arvidsson, Kaliyev on the other wing.
Team still refuses to let someone take the reigns from Kopitar.
Instead hell get what 12 minutes. Dump in and line change just to show tmac he can be responsible and keep up with the pace. Wont produce a thing and people will call him a bust.
Can see it now.

Bingo, the script writers are too predictable this season.

So you want to put QB in his very first NHL game up against the top D and line of the Avs and bump Kopitar down to the 3rd line?

I care more about next season than tonight's game.

It's not the end of the world but I just think it is funny that these are his wingers tonight. The last player I wanted on his wing before the season started was Brown. I want him to at least have one winger that can keep a cycle going and make smart plays.

The two lines that you want to keep together are Danault's and Lizotte's. Anything else is fair game tonight, IMO.

Kings are in a playoff spot and you better believe that's now the goal of this season -- players will develop (maybe not how some of the fanbase wants), but management is not going to sacrifice team success for development.

"yes, it's ok they are lining me up with Grundstrom and Brown, one that has not played in weeks and the other is a shell of a shell of a shell of himself from just 2 years ago and will be getting 30 second shifts...I can still overcome that and have some success"

Who would you guys say have been our top 3 players so far? For me it's Kempe, Danault, Lizotte.

Kempe, Kopitar, Doughty. Lizotte has been best surprise, Danault has exceeded expectations. This is like how the Jack Adams is not really given to the best coach every year, but the one where team exceeds expectations the most. Kopitar may be a little below expectations but how can you not have your top point player in your top 3? Doughty has had such a good season that even Dom has taken notice.

Its not his first game he got his feet wet last season.
Throw the kid into the fire as a star player and say its his job to lose.
Every top 2 pick pretty much ever has gotten that opportunity.
Its ok if he cant cut it and then you move him down to be a role player or back to the ahl to develop.
