When are Scott Barney, Jeff Shevalier, and Donald McLean hitting waivers?

I remember when Bob Miller had to hype the likes of those players up to excite us Kings fans during those trying years. Don't forget Josh Green, and those names, there was Keith Redmond and Brandy Semchuk.

Which also reminds me of the times we looked forward to the waiver draft.

Remember Kevin Brown? Dude was a "can't miss"er.

I like this formation

And Josh Green was going to be a star....he had a back injury, if I recollect. One of the Kings scouts sons saw him training and said "I've just seen the best hockey player I've ever seen" (when he was doing rehab. can't find that quote now)
1996 round 2 #30 overall by Los Angeles Kings

"""""Green is a versatile forward capable of playing both as a center and as winger. His size and strength make him a physical presence both in front of the net and along the boards. A good skater for a player his size. Useful on both ends of the ice, especially on penalty and power play. Provides veteran presence and leadership to his team. (EP 2014)"""

Was it McCauley that got traded here and promptly retired? lol.

That was another guy who could possible have been really good buuuut our doctors were (are?) quack city.

Oh yes, the fastest player in the pipeline. Seems like all the fastest players the Kings have ever had were players with hands of stone. Brad Jones, Kevin Brown, Craig Johnson, Austin Wagner...

Scott Barney was the one with the back issues who the Kings were high on. Josh Green a big winger that they thought would someday turn into a power forward who was part of the Palffy/Smolinski trade. Thanks Milbury!

That was one of Dean's boys from San Jose who was signed as a free agent, and I think only appeared in 10 games before hanging them up. I think he ended up working as a scout for the Kings at some point after retirement. I guess one redeeming thing that can be said about McCauley is the fact that he lasted longer than Valeri Bure.

.

Correct!! It was actually Scott Barney I was thinking of ...but mixed up with another future King star, that was Josh Green. Barney was the one the scouts' son said that quote.

That'd be a real good trick considering that, to the best of my knowledge, Kupari is still with the Reign and, to the best of my knowledge, was not skating with the Kings today.

Yeah, looks like it's Wagner. Hoven got one wrong here I believe.

Arvidsson – Kopitar – Brown
Iafallo – Danault – Kempe
Tkachev – Vilardi – Andersson
Moore – Byfield – Wagner

Anderson – Doughty
Bjornfot – Roy
Edler – Walker

Quick
Petersen

Brown still on the top line...

While I don't particularly disagree, where do you put him if not next to Kopitar? Brown might not maximize Kopitar's potential, but Kopitar certainly maximizes Brown's. I wouldn't say that any wingers have absolutely lit up the preseason either.

I remember this team had gotten to the point when the Kings game advertisement was "Watch Eric Lacroix and the Los Angeles Kings take on ____" Eric Lacroix was the draw...

Yeah, I remember that mini-era (immediately pre-Staples/Palffy). Oddly, that team did have a future HOF defenseman (love 'em or hate 'em) on it; and yet, they were pumping Lacroix and (IIRC) a couple of the other youngsters in the ads. Just one more reason the late-90s sucked (YMMV, of course)...

I think we're hitting that strange conversational point where you can slowly begin making a weak argument about the Kings being a better team without Kopitar and Brown. Pretty strange.
