If you did then you'd know it's not a one size fits all.

Depression can make you not want to get out of bed, not want to get dressed, not want to do anything...but it doesn't PREVENT YOU FROM SKATING.

Yeah, but when a depressed person does get out of bed, goes out, goes to work, to the rink or the mall or the bar, whatever, nobody might even notice they're depressed. They might be the jolliest bloke in the room.

So no use guessing.

Says who? I'm not saying Bo is or isn't depressed, but evaluating whether he is or not based on him skating or joking with the boys at the rink is wrong. There's no textbook standard on what is or isn't depression.

I think what he is saying is that the depression might make you NOT want to skate or it might affect your skating but it will not PREVENT you from skating as in it is impossible for me to skate because I have a depression.

Okay, I mean from a physical perspective sure. It's not like a broken leg or something. So I get that. But him skating or not says next to nothing about where he is mentally. Depression can quite easily make even the most basic things impossible even if physically he's good to go.

Not saying he is or isn't, but we're not in a position to be judging that. Leave that to the people who treat and actually talk to him. Not internet people trying to diagnose behind a keyboard.

You also said that he's there, laughing, joking around so it's obvious he's not depressed.

I think THAT is what ppl are taking issue with when saying you have no idea how depression works.

I think we all need to stop trying to get into what is going on in Bo's head. Depression is in fact a difficult thing to manage and can effect people in different ways. Yes, you can laugh and smile if you are in a depressed period. Depression does not mean you are not capable of doing this. Moodiness and the want to do things on a consistent basis is common too. That said, I have no idea what is going on with the kid but wish him the best.

I understand people want Byram to return to playing hockey. We all do. Undoubtedly Byram wants that too. In the meantime, I don't find it helpful to speculate on what's going on with him.

My message to Byram is this. Get healthy kid. We all have your back no matter what. Come see us whenever you're ready. Until then, you take care of yourself.

No, not at all. Dude is there, smiling, joking, playing with the puck, chatting with his teammates...but he can't skate because he's depressed?!

Depression doesn't prevent you from skating.

I’m not sure if you realize there’s a difference between being sad and being depressed? I would highly recommend doing some research on it. Depression isn’t something that’s the same for everyone and can have many different faces.

On top of that, Bowen might also be experiencing anxiety about playing and being on ice. He may have been recommended to try and experience the more enjoyable parts of the game and try to reintroduce being around the game.

Obviously all of this is speculation, but I don’t think being at the rink is an indication of anything.

Agree with all of this. I was just saying he was talking literally.

Impossible to tell if this had an impact, but Toews was out on the ice and celebrated one of Burakovksy's goals the other night. Also out there were Nate and Mikko.

Nate, Mikko, and Burky have been playing together a lot lately too and celebrating a lot of goals with hugs, so they're at risk.

Now Keumper and Makar too. Ok at this point this is a daily bad news thing and I'm at the point where i'm just sarcastically laughing at how ridiculous this is.

The NHL obviously has no grasp on this at the moment. Bednar said there were guys being pulled out of the room 90 mins before puck drop. The heck are they waiting so late to test?

So in summary

COVID protocol:
- Burakovsky
- Compher
- Makar
- Toews (has symptoms, out until after Christmas)
- Kuemper

IR:
Landeskog (after Christmas)
Byram (unknown return)
McDonald (unknow return)

LTIR:
Murray (spring)
Matteau (not sure)

And with Johansson claimed on waivers early in the week, Avs will be running with Francouz/Annunen in net until who knows.

Francouz was great tonight. I have more faith in him than Kuemper
